Worth knowing
The standard Gym earning cap is 50 coins per day across returning defenders, not 50 per Pokémon.
Several defenders returning on one day share that cap. A long Gym stay does not bank a separate 50-coin allowance for every previous day.
The day a defender returns matters
Gym coins are credited when the defender returns, not continuously while it occupies the Gym. The usual rate is one coin per ten minutes, with a shared limit of 50 Gym coins credited per calendar day.
For example, two defenders each staying ten hours do not necessarily earn 100 coins. If both return on the same day, the combined award is capped at 50. If they return on different days and you have no other Gym coins on those days, each can contribute 50.
Eight hours and twenty minutes of eligible defense is enough to reach 50 coins, but only a return makes the award available. Longer occupancy does not bank a separate 50-coin allowance for every day spent in the Gym.
