Overview
A Remote Raid Pass is a battle item that lets you join eligible Raid Battles and Max Battles from a distance without standing at the Gym or Power Spot. You can use it to enter standard raids, Mega Raids, Shadow Raids, Super Mega Raids, and Max Battles through the Map View, the Nearby screen, a friend's invitation, or your Friend List.
However, holding a pass in your Item Bag does not guarantee entry to every battle: local-only formats such as Elite Raids remain restricted to in-person play, daily remote participation limits apply, and formats like Max Battles and Super Mega Raids require additional resources alongside the pass.
How to get it
Buy it in the in-game shop (195 PokéCoins for one or 525 PokéCoins for a three-pack), through limited-time shop boxes or the Pokémon GO Web Store, or earn one from special event rewards and as a potential seven-day Research Breakthrough reward.
You cannot buy or claim additional Remote Raid Passes while holding three or more in your Item Bag. Daily remote participation is normally capped at 10 raids per day, though events can raise or remove this limit.
How to use it
Join an eligible remote lobby by tapping a visible Gym or Power Spot on the map, selecting a battle from the Nearby menu, accepting a friend's invitation, or joining directly from your Friend List at Great Friends or higher.
Confirm any additional resource costs—such as Max Particles for Max Battles or Link Charges for Super Mega Raids—before entering. Your pass is consumed only when the battle starts; leaving the lobby beforehand keeps the pass in your bag.
Worth knowing
If you lose a remote Max Battle, stay at the same Power Spot and re-enter against that same boss to retry without spending another Remote Raid Pass; leaving the Power Spot or waiting until the boss rotates forfeits the free retry.
Check whether a format allows remote entry before planning around a pass: Shadow Raids and Max Battles support Remote Raid Passes, whereas local-only formats such as Elite Raids cannot be joined from a distance.
Shop offers and holding restrictions
In the in-game shop, a single Remote Raid Pass costs 195 PokéCoins, while a three-pack costs 525 PokéCoins (175 PokéCoins per pass). Passes also appear in limited-time shop boxes, Pokémon GO Web Store bundles, and special event rewards. Completing a seven-day Research Breakthrough gives you a chance to receive a Remote Raid Pass, though it is not a guaranteed drop.
Certain battle formats require extra currencies alongside your Remote Raid Pass. While standard remote raids, Shadow Raids, and ordinary Mega Raids only consume the pass, joining a remote Super Mega Raid requires both a Remote Raid Pass and 200 Link Charges. Similarly, entering a remote Max Battle requires both a Remote Raid Pass and the standard amount of Max Particles for that boss tier.
Daily limits, inventory, and entry
Trainers can normally participate in up to 10 remote raids per day, including Shadow Raids, though special events frequently raise this cap or remove it altogether. In your Item Bag, a holding threshold blocks you from buying more Remote Raid Passes once you already have three or more. Because the shop still lets you buy a three-pack when you hold two passes, you can reach a hard maximum of five Remote Raid Passes in your inventory through bundle purchases.
The three-pass threshold also governs reward claims. If you roll a Remote Raid Pass from your seven-day Research Breakthrough while already holding three or more Remote Raid Passes in your bag, the game converts that reward into a Premium Battle Pass instead.
You can enter a remote lobby by tapping a visible Gym or Power Spot on the Map View, selecting a boss from the Nearby raid list, accepting a friend's invitation, or joining directly from your Friend List if you are Great Friends or higher (note that joining via the Friend List prevents you from inviting additional friends to that lobby).
Each raid lobby caps how many remote Trainers can join, so a full remote allocation will either place you into a new lobby or block Friend List entry. Your Remote Raid Pass is consumed only when the battle begins—leaving the lobby beforehand preserves your pass, and losing a remote Max Battle lets you retry the same boss at that Power Spot without spending another pass.
Keep in mind that remote participants do not receive in-person completion bonuses, such as the extra Premier Balls and bonus XP awarded in local Max Battles or the bonus Candy XL awarded for completing five-star raids in person.
