Overview

A Max Revive is a medicine item that revives a fainted Pokémon and restores 100% of its HP in a single action. It is especially valuable in the raid lobby after your battle party faints, when you need to get six attackers back into the fight before the raid timer runs out.

Where a standard Revive restores only half of a fainted Pokémon's maximum HP and requires at least one Potion to finish healing, a Max Revive completes the entire recovery with one item and one tap.

How to get it

  • Spin Gym and PokéStop Photo Discs and open Gifts once you reach Level 30; drops are random and depend on your level unlocks.

  • Earn guaranteed Max Revives at specific level-up milestones from Level 30 through Level 80 (340 in total), or receive them from Raid Battles, Field and Special Research, and seasonal GO Pass reward tracks.

  • Defeat Team GO Rocket Leaders (Arlo, Cliff, or Sierra) for a chance at 2 Max Revives per reward bundle, complete Giovanni Special Research, or win eligible Max Battles.

How to use it

  1. Open your Item Bag or the battle lobby menu, select Max Revive, and tap a fainted Pokémon (or use Revive All) to restore it directly to 100% HP.

Worth knowing

Save Max Revives for relobbying during active Raid Battles when the clock is ticking, and use standard Revives plus spare Potions when you are healing outside of a timer.

Trainer Battles do not leave persistent HP damage, so GO Battle League does not require healing supplies between matches.

One item replaces both revival and follow-up healing

For a fainted Pokémon with 300 maximum HP, an ordinary Revive restores 150 HP and still leaves a 150-HP injury. A Max Revive returns it directly to 300 HP. The saving is one item compared with a Revive followed by a Hyper Potion, and potentially several items compared with weaker sprays.

A Max Revive only works on a fainted Pokémon at 0 HP; it cannot be used as a Potion on a Pokémon that still has even 1 HP remaining. Check whether your attackers are fainted or merely damaged before opening a healing item, and keep both Potions and Revives in your Item Bag for repeated Gym, Team GO Rocket, and Raid Battles.

Using the healing menu

To use a Max Revive, open your Item Bag—either from the map view or directly inside a Raid Battle or Gym lobby—select Max Revive, and tap a fainted Pokémon. Tapping Revive All at the bottom of the screen automatically spends one Max Revive on every fainted Pokémon in your list, up to the number of Max Revives you have in stock.

If you are relobbying during a raid and only need to bring back your six raid attackers, tap those six Pokémon individually so Revive All does not spend your reserve on other fainted Pokémon sitting in storage.

Buying Max Revives

The in-game Shop has offered a standard bundle of 6 Max Revives for 180 PokéCoins (30 PokéCoins per Max Revive), alongside rotating event and raid boxes that occasionally bundle Max Revives with Premium Battle Passes or Remote Raid Passes. Because you can collect Max Revives for free from PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs, Gifts, Raid Battles, Team GO Rocket Leaders, and level-up rewards, check your free sources before spending PokéCoins.

Shop bundles and box contents change periodically, so always verify the current listing in the Shop before buying.

Unlock and when to use your reserve

Max Revives unlock at Trainer Level 30 in the current Level 1–80 leveling system, awarding an initial bundle of 15 Max Revives. From Level 30 through Level 80, milestone level-ups award a combined total of 340 guaranteed Max Revives, including 20 at Level 40 and 25 each at Levels 50, 60, 70, and 80.

In active combat, they are most useful when your party faints mid-raid and the battle clock is still running: you can apply Max Revives directly in the raid lobby and rejoin the fight immediately. Note that healing in the lobby does not pause or extend the raid timer.

When you are not racing against a raid timer—such as after clearing a Gym or defeating a Team GO Rocket Leader—using a standard Revive followed by a Potion or Hyper Potion is a practical way to save your Max Revives for hard raids. Keep a stack of Potions on hand as well, because a Pokémon that survives a battle with low HP cannot be healed with a Max Revive.

By contrast, GO Battle League and other Trainer Battles automatically restore your team after each match and never require Revives or Potions.
