Overview

The Raid Pass is the free orange pass that grants one entry into an in-person Raid Battle at a Gym. Available starting at Trainer level 5 alongside Gym access, it is collected from a Gym once per day and is limited to one held in your Item Bag at a time. Because of this holding limit, unused daily allocations do not accumulate into a backlog, though you can carry yesterday’s unspent pass into today, use it in a raid, and then claim today’s pass.

Seasonal bonuses, GO Pass milestones, and Raid Day events can temporarily increase how many free passes you can collect in a day.

How to get it

  • Spin a Gym Photo Disc—or tap an in-range Gym with an active Raid Battle—once you reach Trainer level 5, provided you have not claimed your daily pass and are not already holding a free Raid Pass. This daily claim works even when your Item Bag is full.

  • Check the active season or event for any extra daily allocation.

How to use it

  1. Visit a Gym raid in person. When you enter the lobby, the game automatically uses a held free Raid Pass before offering to spend a Premium Battle Pass or Link Charges.

  2. A pass is committed when the battle starts; leaving the lobby before that point preserves it.

Worth knowing

You can carry an unused free pass into a later day, use it, and then collect that day’s allocation. This does not let you stockpile multiple free passes.

It cannot replace a Remote Raid Pass.

Daily and event allocations

To claim your daily Raid Pass, spin a Gym’s Photo Disc when you do not already hold a free pass, or simply tap on an in-range Gym hosting an active Raid Battle to receive it automatically. Unlike regular item drops, your daily Raid Pass is awarded even if your Item Bag is full. Some seasons or GO Pass milestones offer two daily passes, and Raid Day events commonly grant five extra passes for a total of six during the event window.

Because you can still hold only one free Raid Pass at a time, you must spend your current pass in a raid before spinning a Gym Photo Disc for the next one. Whenever you join an in-person raid, the game always consumes your held free Raid Pass before letting you spend a Premium Battle Pass or Link Charges (for Mega and Super Mega Raids).

Using a saved pass and retrying a raid

Under the normal one-pass allocation, saving Monday’s pass lets you use it Tuesday, then collect and use Tuesday’s pass. Skipping Monday’s collection does not produce two Tuesday claims. Additional event passes must be collected under that event’s rules.

After losing, you can retry the same active raid without spending another pass. That entry does not carry over to a different boss or a later raid at the same Gym. Heal your team and regroup before the raid disappears.

Winning a raid starts the bonus challenge encounter with the Raid Boss and awards a set of Premier Balls, rather than guaranteeing a catch. Those Premier Balls are separate from your Raid Pass; if the boss breaks out of every throw and flees, your Raid Pass is not refunded. Finally, a free Raid Pass only works at Gyms in person—it cannot replace a Remote Raid Pass or unlock the premium reward track in the GO Battle League.
