Overview
The Premium Battle Pass is a green ticket that pays for an additional in-person Raid Battle after your free daily orange Raid Pass is spent, or unlocks the premium reward track for one five-battle set in the GO Battle League. Originally introduced as the Premium Raid Pass, it was renamed in January 2020 when the GO Battle League launched.
Unlike the free Raid Pass (which is limited to one in your Bag at a time) or the Remote Raid Pass (which has a strict holding cap), you can store multiple Premium Battle Passes in your Item Bag. It does not grant remote access to distant Gyms, and it cannot be used for Max Battles at Power Spots, which require Max Particles instead.
How to get it
Buy it in the shop or on the Pokémon GO Web Store, or earn it from research tasks, GO Pass tracks, returning-player offers, and Trainer level-up rewards from levels 71 to 79.
How to use it
Spend it to join an in-person raid after you have already used your free daily Raid Pass.
In GO Battle League, choose the premium reward track before starting a five-battle set and check the track's win thresholds before spending your pass.
Worth knowing
A pass pays for entry to a raid or battle set, not a guaranteed win or catch. Coordinate your raid group and battle party before the lobby timer runs out.
In-person Mega Raids and Super Mega Raids also accept Link Charges instead of a pass, while Max Battles at Power Spots use Max Particles.
Shop prices and Mega Raid alternatives
In the in-game shop, a single Premium Battle Pass costs 100 PokéCoins, while a bundle of three costs 250 PokéCoins. They also appear in rotating shop boxes and Pokémon GO Web Store bundles. Outside the shop, you can earn passes through Special, Timed, and event Field Research, free and Deluxe GO Pass reward tracks, returning-player bonuses, and the current leveling system, which awards one pass at each level from Trainer level 71 through 79.
When evaluating event boxes, calculate the value based on the passes and items you actually plan to use.
A Premium Battle Pass works for any eligible in-person raid tier, including 1-star, 3-star, 5-star, Shadow, Primal, Mega, and Super Mega Raids. If you are holding a free daily Raid Pass, the game always uses that orange pass first. Once your free pass is spent, in-person Mega Raids give you a choice between spending one Premium Battle Pass or paying with Link Charges: a standard Mega Raid costs 150 Link Charges, and a Super Mega Raid costs 200 Link Charges.
Primal Raids do not accept Link Charges and require a Raid Pass or Premium Battle Pass for in-person entry.
Choose a raid or a premium battle set
In the GO Battle League, spending one Premium Battle Pass unlocks the premium reward track for a single set of five battles. The premium track increases reward quantities and lowers the number of wins needed to reach key prizes, such as the reward Pokémon encounter, but you still have to win the matches to claim them. Spending a pass does not boost your Pokémon's damage in battle, pair you with easier opponents, or replace the separate seasonal GO Battle League Timed Research Pass.
Buying the three-pack for 250 PokéCoins lowers the unit cost from the 100 PokéCoin single-pass baseline to about 83.33 PokéCoins per pass (250 ÷ 3 = 83.33), saving 50 PokéCoins across three raids or battle sets. When evaluating rotating shop bundles, divide the box price by the items you actually want rather than assuming every bundle beats the 83.33 PokéCoin three-pack rate.
For an in-person raid, your pass is only consumed when the battle actually begins. If your lobby is too small and you leave before the countdown finishes, you keep your pass. If the battle starts and your group fails to defeat the Raid Boss in time, that same pass lets you re-enter and retry that specific raid as many times as needed before the Gym's raid timer expires.
Once you defeat the Raid Boss, however, your participation in that raid is complete—even if the boss flees the bonus catch challenge, you cannot spend another pass on the same raid to fight or catch it again.
