Overview

Link Charges are an alternative entry resource for eligible Mega Raids, including Super Mega Raids. When you collect your first Link Charges, a Link Holder is automatically placed in your Item Bag to store them. Link Charges are only used for raid entry and are completely separate from the species-specific Mega Energy required to Mega Evolve a Pokémon.

When entering an in-person Mega Raid, any held free daily Raid Pass is automatically used first before you are given the option to spend Link Charges or a Premium Battle Pass. Entering a remote Super Mega Raid requires both 200 Link Charges and a Remote Raid Pass.

How to get it

  • Earn guaranteed Link Charges from Weekly Challenges and official Community Ambassador meetup check-ins (via Campfire, the in-game map, or a web browser), get a chance at 10 Link Charges from opening Gifts, or collect them through eligible research and GO Pass tracks.

  • Shop and Web Store offers can also include charges.

How to use it

  1. For eligible in-person Mega Raids, choose charges instead of a Premium Battle Pass after using a held daily Raid Pass.

  2. Remote Super Mega Raids require both charges and a Remote Raid Pass. Ordinary remote Mega Raids use only the remote pass.

Worth knowing

The entry screen shows the applicable charge cost. Normal Mega and Super Mega entries have different costs.

Charges are not a substitute for a pass in every raid format; Primal raids have separate access rules.

Entry costs and ways to collect charges

Entering a standard in-person Mega Raid costs 150 Link Charges (after any held free daily Raid Pass is used), while an in-person Super Mega Raid costs 200 Link Charges. Primal Raids do not accept Link Charges and follow separate pass rules. For remote raids, a standard remote Mega Raid uses only a Remote Raid Pass, whereas a remote Super Mega Raid requires both 200 Link Charges and a Remote Raid Pass.

The Link Holder normally holds up to 600 Link Charges at a time. Completing a Weekly Challenge awards a guaranteed 250 Link Charges, and checking in to an eligible Community Ambassador meetup also provides a guaranteed reward. Opening Gifts from friends gives a chance to receive 10 Link Charges, while Timed Research, Special Research, and both free and Deluxe GO Pass tracks offer additional ways to earn them.

In the in-game shop and Web Store, standard bundles offer 200 Link Charges for 100 PokéCoins or 600 Link Charges for 250 PokéCoins. Link Charges debuted with Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos in February 2026, beginning with early access at the Tainan and Los Angeles live events, global social earning during Road to Kalos on February 23, and shop availability at the global event on February 28.

Budgeting a holder of charges

A full 600-charge Link Holder covers four standard in-person Mega Raids at 150 Link Charges each (4 × 150 = 600), or three Super Mega Raids at 200 Link Charges each (3 × 200 = 600). You can also split a full holder across two standard Mega Raids (300 Link Charges) and one Super Mega Raid (200 Link Charges) for 500 Link Charges total, leaving 100 Link Charges toward your next raid.

If you buy Link Charges from the shop at the listed price of 250 PokéCoins for 600 Link Charges, the effective cost per raid is 250 × (150 ÷ 600) = 62.5 PokéCoins for a standard 150-charge Mega Raid, or 250 × (200 ÷ 600) ≈ 83.33 PokéCoins for a 200-charge Super Mega Raid. Buying the smaller 200-charge bundle for 100 PokéCoins works out to 75 PokéCoins per 150-charge raid or 100 PokéCoins per 200-charge raid.

These figures apply only when paying entirely with purchased Link Charges; mixing in free charges from Weekly Challenges, Gifts, or check-ins lowers your PokéCoin outlay, while remote Super Mega Raids still consume a Remote Raid Pass on top of the 200 Link Charges.

Always check your Link Holder balance before claiming Link Charge rewards. Under standard rules, you can hold up to 600 Link Charges and must spend charges to free up space before claiming research or task rewards that would exceed the cap. While Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos (and select later events such as Road of Legends) temporarily allowed specific rewards or higher event caps above 600, the launch announcement explicitly ended the Road to Kalos overflow exception once that GO Pass concluded.

Do not assume an event's temporary overflow rule applies outside that event.

For eligible Community Ambassador meetups, the October 2026 update allows you to check in directly from the in-game map (under the Nearby menu) or a web browser in addition to Campfire. Look for the purple Meetup pin on the map, confirm that the event is marked as hosted by a Community Ambassador, and check in starting 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Available rewards still depend on the specific meetup.

  • Link HolderThe Link Holder is a permanent Key Item in your Item Bag that stores up to 600 Link Charges for Mega Raid and Super Mega Raid entry. Receiving the holder does not grant unlimited raid access; each battle still requires enough stored Link Charges or an eligible Raid Pass.
  • Premium Battle PassA green pass that grants entry to an additional in-person Raid Battle or unlocks the premium reward track for one set in GO Battle League. It is separate from the free daily Raid Pass and the Remote Raid Pass.
  • Remote Raid PassA pass for joining eligible battles from a distance. Ordinary remote raids use the pass; remote Max Battles additionally require Max Particles, and remote Super Mega Raids additionally require Link Charges.
  • Mega EnergySpecies-specific energy used to Mega Evolve compatible Pokémon and upgrade their Mega Levels. A Pokémon’s first Mega Evolution requires the full initial energy cost, while later transformations become free after a rest period or cost reduced energy during cooldown.
  • PokéCoinsThe shop currency used for many items, bundles, and permanent storage upgrades. PokéCoins are separate from Gimmighoul Coins.
  • Raid PassThe free orange pass used to enter an in-person raid. The normal daily allocation is one, with additional passes sometimes offered by events or seasonal bonuses.

  • Rare Candy XLA flexible item that becomes one Candy XL for a Pokémon family you choose. Candy XL is used for power-ups above Pokémon level 40 and for upgrading Max Moves to Level 3.
  • StardustA shared resource used for power-ups, trades, second Charged Attacks, purification, and several other Pokémon upgrades or effects. Unlike Candy, it is not tied to a species family.
  • CandyA family-specific resource used to evolve Pokémon, power them up, unlock attacks, and pay other development costs. Related evolution stages share their family’s Candy.
  • Candy XLCandy XL is the family-specific resource required to power up Pokémon from level 40 to level 50 and to upgrade Max Moves to their highest tier. It is separate from ordinary Candy and is not interchangeable at a one-to-one rate.
  • Max ParticlesMax Particles are the energy resource used to complete Max Battles at Power Spots and to unlock or upgrade Max Moves. Because both activities draw from the same balance, move upgrades and upcoming battles compete for the same Max Particles.
  • Max Particle PackA consumable Item Bag item that grants 800 Max Particles when opened. It stores particles for later redemption rather than adding them directly to your spendable balance.
  • Zygarde CellA resource used to change Zygarde from 10% Forme to 50% Forme, and then to Complete Forme. Cells are kept in the Zygarde Cube.
  • Primal EnergySpecies-specific energy that triggers Primal Reversion for Kyogre and Groudon. Each species tracks its own energy balance on its Pokémon summary screen up to a cap of 9,999, rather than drawing from a shared pool or occupying Item Bag space.
  • GiftA package collected to send to a friend. The recipient can receive useful supplies, Stardust, and sometimes a 7 km Egg, while the Gift carries a Postcard of its origin.
