The Link Holder is a permanent Key Item in your Item Bag that stores up to 600 Link Charges for Mega Raid and Super Mega Raid entry. Receiving the holder does not grant unlimited raid access; each battle still requires enough stored Link Charges or an eligible Raid Pass.

Overview

The Link Holder is a permanent Key Item in your Item Bag that stores Link Charges, the currency used to enter Mega Raids and Super Mega Raids. You receive the holder automatically the first time you collect Link Charges, and it holds up to 600 Link Charges under standard rules. Tap it in your Item Bag at any time to check your current balance before heading to a Gym.

Entering a raid deducts only the required Link Charges; the Link Holder itself is never consumed or removed from your bag.

How to get it

  • Added automatically to the Key Items section of your Item Bag the first time you collect Link Charges from Weekly Challenges, Campfire Community Ambassador check-ins, Gifts, Research, GO Pass tiers, or shop bundles.

How to use it

  1. Tap the Link Holder in the Key Items section of your Item Bag to inspect your current Link Charge balance out of 600.

  2. Spend stored Link Charges on the raid entry screen for in-person Mega Raids (150 charges) and Super Mega Raids (200 charges) after using your free Daily Raid Pass, or pair 200 charges with a Remote Raid Pass for remote Super Mega Raids.

Worth knowing

The standard Link Holder capacity is 600 Link Charges; once you reach 600/600, spend charges before claiming Weekly Challenge or research rewards so you do not get blocked from collecting more.

The Link Holder does not store Mega Energy and cannot bypass your free orange Daily Raid Pass; in-person Mega and Super Mega Raids always consume a free Raid Pass in your Item Bag before letting you spend Link Charges.

Release and access

The Link Holder and Link Charges debuted alongside Super Mega Raids in February 2026 for Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos, rolling out first at the Tainan and Los Angeles live events on February 20–22, 2026, before expanding to Road to Kalos on February 23 and the global event on February 28–March 1, 2026.

There is no Trainer level requirement under the current leveling system: collecting Link Charges from any source—such as Weekly Challenges, official Campfire Community Ambassador check-ins, Gifts from friends, Research tasks, GO Pass tiers, or shop bundles—automatically places the Link Holder in the Key Items section of your Item Bag.

Check capacity before collecting another reward

Once unlocked, the Link Holder stays in your Item Bag permanently and cannot be discarded. You never need to obtain or buy a replacement holder when your balance drops to 0/600; any new Link Charges you earn or purchase simply refill the same container.

A full Link Holder at 600/600 covers four in-person standard Mega Raid entries (150 Link Charges each) or three Super Mega Raid entries (200 Link Charges each). When you challenge a Mega Raid or Super Mega Raid in person, the game always uses a free orange Daily Raid Pass first if you have one in your Item Bag.

Once your free Raid Pass is spent, the lobby entry prompt lets you choose between spending Link Charges from your Link Holder or using a Premium Battle Pass. For remote raids, rules differ by tier: joining a remote Super Mega Raid requires both 200 Link Charges and a Remote Raid Pass, whereas a remote standard Mega Raid uses only a Remote Raid Pass and cannot be entered with Link Charges alone.

The Link Holder only covers raid entry—species-specific Mega Energy used to Mega Evolve a Pokémon or power it up toward Super Max Level is still tracked separately on each Pokémon's summary page.

Standard collection stops once your Link Holder reaches 600/600, though specific event rules and lump-sum rewards can cause a balance to display above 600. During the introductory GO Pass: Road to Kalos event in February and March 2026, Trainers could temporarily exceed the 600-charge limit when claiming rewards from Weekly Challenges, Timed Research, Special Research, and GO Pass tiers.

Outside of special uncapped events, you cannot collect additional Link Charges once your holder is at or above 600, even if claiming a lump-sum reward while below 600 (such as the 250 Link Charges from a Weekly Challenge) pushes your total past the cap. To avoid blocked claims or wasted charges, spend your balance down in raids before claiming large Link Charge rewards.
