Overview

The purple-spotted 10 km Egg is an incubatable item that hatches into a Pokémon after you walk 10 km. You can collect ordinary 10 km Eggs by spinning Photo Discs at PokéStops and Gyms when you have an open standard Egg slot, or earn a 10 km Egg with a separate hatch pool as a potential weekly reward for walking at least 50 km with Adventure Sync.

Placing a 10 km Egg in a Super Incubator cuts the required walking distance by one-third, reducing a normal 10 km walk to about 6.67 km (shown in-game as 6.7 km).

How to get it

  • Spin Photo Discs at PokéStops or Gyms while at least one of your nine regular Egg slots is open.

  • Reach the weekly 50 km Adventure Sync milestone for a chance to receive a 10 km Egg on Monday at 9:00 a.m. local time, provided you have an open regular or Bonus Storage Egg slot.

How to use it

  1. Place the Egg in an Incubator and walk 10 km, or use a Super Incubator to reduce the normal requirement by one-third to about 6.67 km (displayed as 6.7 km).

  2. Tap the Egg in storage to inspect its specific hatch pool and rarity tiers. Because seasonal and event pools rotate, each Egg retains the species pool from the moment you collected it.

Worth knowing

Check the possible hatches displayed on an individual 10 km Egg before spending a limited-use Incubator, as PokéStop 10 km Eggs and Adventure Sync 10 km Eggs draw from different pools.

Eggs cannot be discarded or deleted from your inventory; hatching an Egg in an Incubator is the only way to clear its storage slot.

Baseline hatch rewards

Hatching a 10 km Egg awards the Pokémon inside along with the baseline XP, Stardust, and Candy amounts shown in the table below. Special events can temporarily multiply these values, and the Stardust and Candy figures represent random ranges per hatch rather than a guaranteed maximum.

Using a Star Piece multiplies hatch Stardust by 1.5, raising the 10 km Egg range from 1,600–3,200 to 2,400–4,800 Stardust. Activating a Lucky Egg doubles the baseline 2,000 XP reward to 4,000 XP. Because hatch rewards are calculated the moment the hatch completes, make sure your Star Piece or Lucky Egg is active just before you finish walking the remaining distance.

Each hatch grants 16–32 regular Candy for the hatched Pokémon’s evolutionary family. Once you reach Trainer Level 31, hatching a 10 km Egg also awards a separate roll of up to 24 Candy XL for that species.

What is determined before you hatch

Everything inside a 10 km Egg—including its species, form, moveset, Shiny status, and Individual Values (IVs)—is locked in the moment you receive the Egg. Holding onto an older 10 km Egg until a new Season or event begins will not update its contents or switch it to the new event’s hatch pool.

The geographic location where you obtained the 10 km Egg—either the PokéStop or Gym you spun, or your location when claiming weekly Adventure Sync rewards—is permanently recorded as the hatched Pokémon’s origin. That recorded location determines trade distance if you later trade the Pokémon with another Trainer, and region-exclusive species in standard 10 km pools can only hatch from Eggs collected within their respective regions. Unlike 7 km Eggs from Friends or Mateo, 10 km Eggs are always tied to where you personally collected them.

Always tap an Egg in storage to inspect its individual hatch list rather than assuming every 10 km Egg shares the same pool.

Hatching, storage, and the reward

To start hatching, open your Pokémon Storage, swipe to the Eggs tab, select the 10 km Egg, and tap Incubate to place it into an open Incubator. Note that placing an Egg into an Incubator reserves a spot in your Pokémon Storage capacity. Walking progress registers while the app is open or in the background through Adventure Sync (unlocked at Trainer Level 5). Because Eggs cannot be discarded, hatching is the only way to free up space.

Your inventory holds nine regular Egg slots plus three Bonus Storage slots reserved exclusively for weekly Adventure Sync reward Eggs and 12 km Strange Eggs from Team GO Rocket Leaders when your regular slots are full.

Pokémon hatched from 10 km Eggs have a guaranteed minimum floor of 10 in Attack, Defense, and HP IVs. Each hatch awards 2,000 XP, 1,600–3,200 Stardust, and 16–32 Candy, plus up to 24 Candy XL for Trainers at Level 31 and above. If you want to speed up the visual sequence when an Egg hatches, tap the screen as the hatch animation begins to skip ahead to the summary.

Choosing between PokéStop and Adventure Sync Eggs

Walking at least 50 km in a single week makes you eligible to receive a 10 km Egg from Adventure Sync rewards, which become available to claim on Mondays at 9:00 a.m. local time. If all nine regular Egg slots are full, an Adventure Sync Egg can use one of your three Bonus Storage slots—if both regular and Bonus Storage are full, you cannot receive an Egg from the milestone.

Reaching 50 km grants a chance at the 10 km Egg rather than a guarantee, and the species is chosen randomly from the current Adventure Sync 10 km pool.

Compare each Egg’s displayed hatch list before choosing which to incubate. A rare species in the ordinary 10 km pool may be absent from the Adventure Sync pool, or vice versa. Older Eggs retain the pool and contents from when they were obtained.

Incubating multiple 10 km Eggs at the same time lets you walk off their distance in parallel: three 10 km Eggs placed in three standard Incubators will all finish during the same 10 km walk. Using Super Incubators reduces that shared distance by one-third to about 6.67 km.

If an event offers a 1/2 or 1/4 hatch-distance bonus, you must place the 10 km Egg into an Incubator while the event bonus is active to receive the reduction. Event distance bonuses do not stack with one another, and using a faster incubator still consumes one charge per Egg without altering species odds.

The 10 km reward category remains the same when a Super Incubator or an eligible event shortens the distance. For example, a reduced-distance 10 km Egg does not become a 5 km reward Egg.
