Recommended moves

Origin Forme Giratina is the better Giratina for Raids, as its stat distribution gives it more damage, and less defence, a choice that works great in Raids, especially compared to Altered Forme Giratina. However, there are many other Ghost-types out there, including some surprising off-type attackers, which pushed out Origin Giratina from the top tier in recent years. Don't get us wrong, it's still a solid Ghost-type attacker, especially with its signature move Shadow Force. The ideal moveset is Shadow Claw / Shadow Force or Shadow Force / Shadow Ball, with Shadow Force being slightly superior. Keep in mind that an Elite Charge TM is required to unlock Shadow Force. Technically, Giratina-O can be used both as a Ghost and a Dragon-type attacker, but its Ghost-type performance is significantly stronger.

🔵 Great League

Origin Forme Giratina is not a good performer in the Great League, there are simply too many Dark, Fairy, and Ice types, and its bulk is easily outmatched by other bulky Great League Pokémon. Skip for GL.

🟡 Ultra League

Origin Forme Giratina can perform decently in the Ultra League, but it is not as effective as the Altered Forme. If you want to use Origin-Giratina, opt for a high pressure fast move like Shadow Claw, but it still won't help against the wide competition.

🟣 Master League

The Master League is where Origin Forme Giratina truly excels. Its higher offensive power allows it to win more matchups compared to Altered Forme. However, due to its fragility, it can suffer in unfavorable matchups. We recommend saving your Shadow Force Origin Giratina for PvE, and just skipping O-Giratina for PvP altogether.
