Sludge Bomb
Legendaries, Shadow Pokémon, and Mega Evolutions are the most meta additions to Pokémon GO but few in this elite group are built as good as Mega Gengar.
Equipped with devastating strength for raids and a diverse but powerful movepool, Mega Gengar is one of the compulsory Megas to have in your collection. Although it theoretically seems to be hindered by its weaknesses to Psychic and Ghost, two types it is super-effective against, its remarkable outburst of damage in raids compensates for that, firmly placing it as one of the best counters to use.
It is well-known that both Psychic and Ghost raids can be beaten with counters from the Dark and Ghost types. Even in this comparison, Mega Gengar takes the number one position, delivering more damage than any Ghost or Dark type.
Do remember that Dawn Wings Necrozma is bulkier and does not take super-effective damage from Psychic moves, so it can often lead Mega Gengar. All things said and done, Mega Gengar is the ultimate Ghost type that also leaves Dark types behind in pursuit of defeating Ghost and Psychic raid battles.
📈 Should you max out Mega Gengar?
A resounding YES! Ghost is one of the most valuable types in Pokémon GO, known for beating Ghost and Psychic raid bosses (quite common among Legendaries).
Shadow Rider Calyrex doesn't have as much attacking ability as Mega Gengar and even with a perfect moveset from all available moves in Pokémon GO, it won't cross Mega Gengar in DPS rankings.
It has a signature attack called Astral Barrage, and even if that move is OP, Mega Gengar will keep dominating as one of the best Ghost Pokémon.
