PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Ghost Attacker:
Shadow Claw
Shadow Ball
Mega Banette is a fantastic Mega Evolution on its own but its biggest issue is the existence of Mega Gengar. The latter crushes Mega Banette in Raid performance, being one of the strongest Megas in general.
You may think not having a secondary typing like Mega Gengar would help Mega Banette do better against Psychic-type Raid Bosses but unfortunately, that is not the case as Mega Gengar’s offensive prowess against Raid Bosses that are weak to it, tends to overpower almost anything else.
That said, it does not mean Mega Banette is bad. Having great Ghost-type moves and high offenses actually make it a strong attacker. It is just severely outclassed.
👻 Ghost type
The Ghost type meta is ruled by Dawn Wings Necrozma and Mega Gengar, and not even Dark types deal that much damage against Psychic and Ghost Raid Bosses. After those two spooky monsters and Shadow Gengar, Mega Banette is the next viable option, outperforming Blacephalon.
So, if you don't have Dawn Wings Necrozma or Mega Gengar powered up, feel free to use a high CP Mega Banette. It will serve you well until you have a stronger version of the best Ghosts in your team.
⭐ Perks
A hard-hitting Ghost-type attacker on its own, and a cheaper alternative to Mega Gengar. Does more damage than almost every Ghost type except Dawn Wings Necrozma and Mega Gengar. Handles the Raid Boss’ Psychic-type moves better than the Gengar variants.
PvP Analysis
Mega Evolutions are typically not allowed in the GO Battle League, but even when they are in limited formats, Mega Banette is terrible. 🥲
