One of the most hilarious Mega Evolutions in the franchise, Mega Starmie rocks an ATK stat of 276, which is decent for Water Pokémon standards but definitely low for a Psychic type.
- Psywave and Water Gun: Mega Starmie’s PvE relevant Fast Attacks. Both are strong attacks but Psywave takes the cake even if Mega Starmie is to be used as a Water attacker.
- Psychic, Psybeam, Surf and Liquidation+: Mega Starmie’s PvE relevant Charged Attacks. As a Psychic attacker, Psychic is the way to go. As a Water attacker, the newly released Mega Charged Attack, Liquidation+, is the preferred move.
Mega Starmie’s Water type DPS is over the roof since it has received Liquidation+. Running with Psywave as its Fast Attack, it is now one of the best Water type attackers in the game with its DPS now higher than even Primal Kyogre.
Its performance as a Psychic attacker is the reverse of what it was as a Water attacker. Mega Starmie as a Psychic type is pretty disappointing. With Psywave and Psychic, its DPS is above regular Alakazam but below Mega Metagross, who is already underwhelming with Zen Headbutt. But the real shocking display of its poor performance comes out when you compare it with Mega Mewtwo Y, who does a jaw-dropping 62.66% higher damage. Moreover, trainers from all around the world obtained a 100 IV Mega Mewtwo Y for free, so why even think of compromising your Raid team’s sole Mega Evolution spot for Mega Starmie? Overall, build a Mega Starmie for Water raids but leave it in your storage when it comes to Psychic raids.

Mega and Primal Raid Bonus –Mega Pokémon boost the attack power of all other Pokémon when battling in Raid Battles by 10%. Attacks that share their type with the Mega Pokémon's type(s) receive a 30% boost. However, these bonuses do not stack if there are multiple Mega-Evolved Pokémon battling simultaneously; only the higher boost will be applied.
Mega and Primal Catch Bonus –While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.
Note on Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon, and Mega Rayquaza- Primal Kyogre boosts Water-, Electric- and Bug-type attacks and Pokémon.
