PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Psychic Attacker:
Confusion
Psystrike *
With an ATK stat just one point shy of Deoxys Attack Forme, Mega Mewtwo Y shatters the Pokémon GO meta with an insane damage output and a combat performance that makes it one of the most sought-after attackers for all players.
If the offensive strength wasn't impressive enough already, Mega Mewtwo Y is also bulkier than Mega Rayquaza. The only reason it isn't the absolute best in the game is Psystrike, which although powerful on its own, is inferior to the likes of Dragon Ascent, Aura Sphere, and many more Charged Attacks wielded by the top Legendaries.
Still, the massive ATK and its overall display of power makes Mega Mewtwo Y one of the finest ever. Let's see how it excels in its own typing.
👁️ Psychic type
There is absolutely no competition for Mega Mewtwo Y in the Psychic typing. The top damage dealers in this typing are all Mewtwo variants, Mega and Shadow Alakazam, and Shadow Rider Calyrex, but none reach the incredible standards set by Mega Mewtwo Y, who dishes out around 3.22% more damage than Mega Mewtwo X and 13.63% more damage than Shadow Mewtwo.
Apart from DPS and the boosts offered to all Psychic types by Mega Mewtwo Y during the Raid battle, Mega Mewtwo Y also has the highest TDO. So regardless of what Psychic Pokémon you bring to the table, none of them surpass Mega Mewtwo Y in any combat parameter.
Psychic is super-effective against Fighting and Poison types. How does Mega Mewtwo Y compete with other top-tier attackers that are super-effective against these two types?
👉 Against Fighting-type Raid Bosses:
In these battles, Mega Mewtwo Y directly competes with Mega Rayquaza. The latter holds bragging rights due to Dragon Ascent, and as such, the Sky Dragon surpasses Mega Mewtwo Y in DPS against Fighting Bosses, but only when paired with Dragon Tail. Indeed, if Mega Rayquaza has Air Slash instead of Dragon Tail as a Fast Attack, Mega Mewtwo Y is the clear winner.
Remember that both these mighty Pokémon resist Fighting-type damage, so it all boils down to the moveset. In any case, Mega Mewtwo Y is also doing super-effective damage with its Fast Attack (Psycho Cut or Confusion) and it is bulkier, so overall, Mega Mewtwo Y is technically the more efficient attacker when facing a Fighting-type Raid Boss.
To put it into perspective, Mega Rayquaza does inflict more damage than Mega Mewtwo Y, overtaking it by around 4.74%, but is less bulkier, making it a less effective Mega Evolution in the long run.
👉 Against Poison-type Raid Bosses:
When it comes to the Ground types, Primal Groudon gives no competition to Mega Mewtwo Y. The Psychic-type monster is the undisputed damage dealer against Poison-type Raid Bosses, surpassing Primal Groudon easily with more than 28% damage.
🌐 As a generalist
In neutral in-game weather conditions, Mega Mewtwo Y is only behind Mega Lucario Z and Mega Rayquaza in unfiltered damage output.
That said, Mega Mewtwo Y has another trick up its sleeve: flexing the highest TDO among ALL the top generalists in Pokémon GO. So, Mega Mewtwo Y is more capable of lasting longer in the battle and keeping the Mega Boost running for a little bit longer, which can often make the difference in Raid battles that go down the wire.
Finally, when it comes to measuring the mix of DPS and TDO, Mega Mewtwo Y is second only to Mega Rayquaza. Keep in mind that both Mega Rayquaza and Mega Mewtwo Y have their attacks boosted in Windy in-game weather.
🌟 Is Mega Mewtwo Y future proof?
A resounding YES!
Your search for the best Psychic-type attacker ends with Mega Mewtwo Y, unbeaten in both offense and bulk. It is also a supreme generalist, so you can use it even in neutral situations, with a second Charged Attack giving it the coverage it needs.
Basically, you're going to want Mega Mewtwo Y! 💯
