Recommended moves

When a Pokémon has a meager ATK of 148, even the 20% boost to its ATK courtesy of being a Shadow Pokémon doesn't help it become relevant in Raids. Sadly, that's the case with Shadow Skarmory.

Since it has a Mega Evolution, you should ideally purify it and get some viability out of the Pokémon.

Coming to Gyms, a lowered DEF automatically spells no usage for Shadow Skarmory. Being a Steel/Flying type, it also takes neutral damage from Fighting-type offense (most common Gym attackers) instead of resisting it, and as such, it's not ideal as a Gym defender in any parameter.

🧸 Little Cup

Regular Skarmory has been one of the best inclusions to the Little League meta courtesy of its bulk and 10 resistances. With Shadow Skarmory losing bulk, it is a complete downgrade, so much that there's not a single Pokémon that Shadow Skarmory can beat that the regular variant can't. In fact, Shadow Skarmory loses important matchups such as Altaria, Nidoqueen, Scrafty, Seel, Vullaby, and Wooper.

Literally no reason to use Shadow Skarmory over regular Skarmory in the Little Cup.

🔵 Great League

Unfortunately, the same story continues in the Great League. Skarmory is well-known to be a premier switch-in, particularly against Bug, Grass, and Poison types. However, it is also noted for its ability to tank hits.

Shadow Skarmory is unable to beat Galarian Corsola, Furret, Mantine, and Quagsire, Pokémon that regular Skarmory takes down. 🫤 Just run Skarmory instead of its Shadow in these battles.

🟡 Ultra League

A max CP well below 2500 CP and an underwhelming performance make Shadow Skarmory unsuitable for the Ultra League.

🟣 Master League

Needless to say, Shadow Skarmory simply doesn't cut it in the Master League.
