Overview

The Sinnoh Stone is a single-use evolution item that unlocks 18 cross-generational evolutions introduced in the Sinnoh region, including Rhyperior, Togekiss, Mamoswine, and Roserade. Each evolution requires one Sinnoh Stone and 100 family Candy. Unlike the five Johto evolution items, the Sinnoh Stone does not drop from ordinary PokéStop or Gym spins; instead, you earn it primarily through Trainer Battles, Team Leader training, GO Battle League Mystery Item rewards, and research breakthroughs or tasks.

How to get it

  • Earn chances through eligible Trainer Battle, Team Leader, and GO Battle League rewards.

  • Research Breakthroughs and selected research or events can also award it.

  • It is not part of the ordinary PokéStop evolution-item drop pool.

How to use it

  1. Open the Pokémon’s details and choose the evolution button showing this item.

  2. Check the target and Candy cost, then confirm. The item and Candy are consumed together.

Worth knowing

Male Kirlia and female Snorunt have gender requirements. Hisuian Sneasel follows a different path and does not evolve with this stone.

An evolution item does not improve IVs. Choose the individual Pokémon you want to keep before spending it.

Compatible evolutions

Candy costs are for the relevant Pokémon family and show standard, undiscounted amounts. Regional forms can have different requirements.

Repeatable rewards and exceptions

  • Your first three Trainer Battles against friends or other players each day can award a Sinnoh Stone whether you win or lose.

  • Team Leader training against Blanche, Candela, or Spark grants one reward opportunity per day, and you must win that battle to have a chance at an item bundle rather than the Stardust-only loss reward. Master League training offers the highest chance of dropping a Sinnoh Stone among the three training leagues, and daily battle rewards also carry a small chance to grant two reward bundles from a single match.

  • You can also receive Sinnoh Stones from the Mystery Item win reward in GO Battle League sets and from 7-day Field Research Breakthroughs, though none of these repeatable sources guarantees a stone on a given attempt.

Special Research, Timed Research, Collection Challenges, returning-player offers, and featured events can award guaranteed Sinnoh Stones or add temporary drop methods. For example, past Community Days featuring Swinub and Rhyhorn offered dedicated stone rewards to help players evolve Mamoswine and Rhyperior, and some events have temporarily enabled PokéStop drops. Outside of those specific event windows, spinning PokéStops or Gyms—even on a 7-day streak—will not award a Sinnoh Stone.

Checking gender, form, and evolution method

A male Kirlia can use the stone for Gallade; either gender can follow the separate Gardevoir branch without it. A female Snorunt can become Froslass with the stone, while either gender can become Glalie without one. Choose the intended evolution button rather than assuming that owning a stone selects the branch automatically.

The Sinnoh Stone does not cover every evolution introduced in the Sinnoh region. Magnezone and Probopass evolve near an active Magnetic Lure Module, while Leafeon and Glaceon require a Mossy Lure Module and a Glacial Lure Module (or their one-time nickname tricks).

Regional forms also have distinct rules: standard Johto Sneasel evolves into Weavile with a Sinnoh Stone and 100 Sneasel Candy, whereas Hisuian Sneasel evolves into Sneasler during the daytime after you walk 7 km with it as your Buddy and spend 100 Sneasel Candy.

Completing one of every listed Sinnoh Stone evolution takes 18 Sinnoh Stones and 1,800 total family Candy at the final-stage step. Three-stage lines add earlier Candy costs—and in Porygon's case, evolving Porygon into Porygon2 first requires an Upgrade and 25 Porygon Candy before you can spend a Sinnoh Stone and 100 Porygon Candy for Porygon-Z.

When you have only a few Sinnoh Stones in your Bag, prioritize evolving Pokémon you need immediately for raids or PvP, and check whether an upcoming event features an exclusive attack on evolution.
