Overview

The Syrupy Apple is an evolution item used to evolve Applin into Dipplin, which can later evolve into Hydrapple. Evolving Applin into Dipplin costs 20 Syrupy Apples and 200 Applin Candy. Applin has three distinct evolution branches: Sweet Apples evolve it into Appletun, Tart Apples evolve it into Flapple, and Syrupy Apples evolve it into Dipplin. These apple varieties cannot substitute for one another.

Instead of taking up space in your ordinary Item Bag, Syrupy Apples are stored in a dedicated counter visible on Applin’s summary screen.

How to get it

  • Tap apples appearing around PokéStops with an active Mossy Lure Module; the lure can belong to another Trainer.

  • Complete selected Field Research, Timed Research, Collection Challenges, or GO Pass reward tracks, and catch Applin that may hold an apple during featured events.

How to use it

  1. Collect 20 Syrupy Apples and 200 Applin Candy, then open the summary screen of the Applin you want to evolve.

  2. Select the evolution button for Dipplin and confirm the cost.

Worth knowing

Dipplin can later evolve into Hydrapple for 400 Applin Candy after you catch seven Dragon-type Pokémon with that Dipplin as your Buddy. This second evolution does not require any additional Syrupy Apples.

Syrupy Apples are tracked on Applin’s summary page and do not take up space in your Item Bag.

Finding and collecting apples

To find Syrupy Apples on the map, tap the apple objects that appear around a PokéStop with an active Mossy Lure Module. Any Trainer can place the Mossy Lure Module. Tapping an apple on the map can award a Sweet Apple, Tart Apple, Syrupy Apple, other items, or start an encounter with a Pokémon such as Applin.

You can also earn Syrupy Apples by catching wild or research Applin that drop held apples, or by completing event-specific Field Research, Timed Research, Collection Challenges, and GO Pass reward tracks.

Open Applin and choose the evolution button for the form you want. Sweet Apples produce Appletun, Tart Apples produce Flapple, and Syrupy Apples produce Dipplin; each uses its own apple balance.

Continuing to Hydrapple

Syrupy Apples debuted alongside Dipplin and Hydrapple during the Harvest Festival event on October 10, 2025. Once you evolve Applin into Dipplin using 20 Syrupy Apples and 200 Applin Candy, you can work toward Hydrapple. Set that Dipplin as your Buddy and catch seven Dragon-type Pokémon, then spend 400 Applin Candy to evolve it into Hydrapple without using any additional Syrupy Apples.

Taking an Applin all the way to Hydrapple requires a combined total of 20 Syrupy Apples and 600 Applin Candy (200 for Dipplin plus 400 for Hydrapple), along with the seven Dragon-type catches. Dragon-type Pokémon caught before that specific Dipplin is set as your active Buddy do not count toward its requirement. Always verify the adventure task progress on Dipplin’s summary page before swapping your Buddy.

Choosing Dipplin and collecting the right variety

Use Applin’s Dipplin evolution button. Appletun and Flapple cannot be converted into Dipplin or Hydrapple by spending Syrupy Apples afterward. If you want all branches, keep a separate Applin for each.

When farming around active Mossy Lure Modules, remember that not every apple on the map yields a Syrupy Apple—some start Pokémon encounters or drop Sweet or Tart Apples instead. Event research and GO Pass tracks often provide guaranteed apples, though you should check the exact reward icons carefully. A research step or milestone that awards 20 mixed apples across all three varieties will not give you the 20 Syrupy Apples needed to evolve Applin into Dipplin.
