Overview

A Magnetic Lure Module is a special Lure Module that attaches to a PokéStop for 30 minutes, attracting wild Pokémon more often than a standard Lure Module while favoring species associated with magnetic fields, particularly Electric-, Steel-, and Rock-type Pokémon. While active, its magnetic field also unlocks the evolutions for Magneton into Magnezone, Nosepass into Probopass, and Charjabug into Vikavolt for any Trainer standing within range of the PokéStop.

Prepare your Pokémon and Candy before activating the lure: a single module can handle multiple evolutions across its duration, including those performed by other nearby Trainers.

How to get it

  • Check the in-game shop for individual Magnetic Lure Modules or rotating bundles that include them.

  • Complete Special Research, Timed Research, or event reward tracks when the module is featured, or place well in PokéStop Showcases for a chance to earn one as a reward.

How to use it

  1. Open a PokéStop within interaction range, tap its empty lure slot, and select the Magnetic Lure Module. Only one lure can be active on a PokéStop at a time.

  2. Remain within range of the PokéStop to encounter the Pokémon it attracts and to unlock the evolution option for Magneton, Nosepass, and Charjabug.

Worth knowing

One active Magnetic Lure Module can cover as many eligible evolutions as you have Candy for during its timer, and nearby Trainers can use the same PokéStop to evolve their own Pokémon.

A lure normally lasts 30 minutes. Check an event’s exact bonus before assuming this particular module gets an extended timer.

Evolutions near this lure

You can use another Trainer’s active lure. Stand within interaction range and check the evolution preview before confirming. Costs below are the standard, undiscounted Candy costs.

Placing and sharing a lure

Trainers at Level 6 or higher can install a Magnetic Lure Module in a PokéStop’s empty lure slot. Once placed, the PokéStop displays levitating metallic blocks on the map instead of standard pink petals, and tapping the PokéStop shows the Trainer name of the player who activated it. A lure cannot be attached to a Gym or overwrite a lure that is already active.

Because any nearby Trainer can use the same magnetic field without spending their own item, checking your map for a PokéStop that already has a Magnetic Lure Module running can save your own module for later.

Evolution Candy and purification

Standard evolutions near a Magnetic Lure Module cost 100 Magnemite Candy for Magnezone, 50 Nosepass Candy for Probopass, and 100 Grubbin Candy for Vikavolt. Because all three evolution lines have Shadow counterparts, evolving a Purified Magneton, Nosepass, or Charjabug applies the standard 10% Purified Candy discount, lowering those costs to 90 Magnemite Candy, 45 Nosepass Candy, and 90 Grubbin Candy respectively. You can always check the Pokémon’s details screen to confirm its exact Candy requirement before evolving.

Prepare all three evolution lines

The lure is needed for Magneton, Nosepass, and Charjabug’s final evolutions. Magnemite first needs 25 Candy to become Magneton, and Grubbin first needs 25 Candy to become Charjabug. Starting with those basic stages therefore costs 125 Candy in total for Magnezone or Vikavolt at the standard rates. Nosepass evolves directly for 50.

Check that each Pokémon’s evolution button shows its intended evolution before confirming. If the lure condition is missing, move closer to the PokéStop and reopen the Pokémon. The lure is consumed when placed, not once per evolution, so one module can handle several Pokémon during the same timer.

A Magnetic Lure satisfies the location condition only. If you also want a featured evolution attack, evolve during the separate event window that awards it. Merely using the lure does not grant an event-exclusive move.
