Overview

The Mossy Lure Module is a PokéStop module that attracts wild Pokémon—especially Grass-, Bug-, and Poison-type species—for 30 minutes, enables Eevee to evolve into Leafeon, and increases the chance for tappable apples to appear on the surrounding map. You can install a Lure Module starting at Level 6.

When active, green leaves fall around the PokéStop, and any Trainer nearby can encounter the attracted Pokémon, evolve Eevee, or tap the apples that appear on the ground. Activating the lure does not place apples directly into your Item Bag; you must watch the map around the lured PokéStop and tap each apple yourself.

How to get it

  • Purchase individual modules in the in-game shop for 180 PokéCoins, or look for rotating bundles that include this lure.

  • Eligible research, event reward tracks, and Showcase rewards can also provide it; availability varies.

How to use it

  1. Open a PokéStop, tap its lure slot, and select the module. Only one lure can occupy the slot at a time.

  2. Stay close to the PokéStop to use its encounters and, for special lures, its evolution effect.

Worth knowing

Look around the lured PokéStop for apples as well as Pokémon. Apple rewards support Applin’s different evolution branches.

A lure normally lasts 30 minutes. Check an event’s exact bonus before assuming this particular module gets an extended timer.

Evolutions near this lure

You can use your own or another Trainer’s active Mossy Lure Module to evolve Eevee into Leafeon. Stand within interaction range of the lured PokéStop and check that the evolution button displays Leafeon before confirming. Because standing in range of an active Mossy Lure Module overrides buddy-walking evolution criteria for Espeon and Umbreon, checking the button preview prevents accidental evolutions. The table below lists the standard, undiscounted Candy cost.

Placing and sharing a lure

Install a Mossy Lure Module in a PokéStop’s empty module slot, then stay within interaction range. Other Trainers can use the same active lure for wild encounters, tappable apples, and Leafeon evolutions. A single module supports as many Leafeon evolutions as you want during its active window, though each Eevee still requires its own 25 Eevee Candy.

Leafeon’s name trick

Renaming an Eevee to Linnea lets you evolve it into Leafeon for 25 Eevee Candy without needing a Mossy Lure Module, but this nickname trick works only once per account. After you use the nickname once, standing near an active Mossy Lure Module is the repeatable method to get additional Leafeon. Always verify that the evolution button shows Leafeon’s silhouette or portrait before spending your Candy.

Apples, Applin, and its evolution items

Look for apple objects on the map around the lured PokéStop and tap them to see what they yield. Each tap can award a Sweet Apple, a Tart Apple, a Syrupy Apple, or a Pokémon encounter such as Applin. Seeing an apple on the ground does not guarantee that an Applin is hiding inside it, and simply activating the Mossy Lure Module does not automatically place evolution items into your inventory.

Each of Applin’s three initial evolution branches requires 200 Applin Candy and 20 of a specific apple: 20 Sweet Apples for Appletun, 20 Tart Apples for Flapple, and 20 Syrupy Apples for Dipplin. You only need the Mossy Lure Module to help gather those apples and Candy; Applin does not need to be near an active lure when you actually evolve it.

Evolving Dipplin further into Hydrapple requires 400 Applin Candy and catching 7 Dragon-type Pokémon with Dipplin as your buddy, without needing any additional apples or a Mossy Lure Module.

Seasonal events can temporarily change apple appearance rates, lure duration, and reward tracks. The April 2025 Sweet Discoveries event introduced Sweet Apples, Tart Apples, and boosted apple appearances at Mossy Lure Modules, while the October 2025 Harvest Festival added Syrupy Apples. More recently, the September–October 2026 Harvest Festival featured a temporary rule where Mossy Lure Modules attracted only apples and a GO Pass milestone that extended their duration to one hour.

Always check an active event’s specific bonuses rather than assuming an all-apple spawn pool or extended timer is permanent.
