Overview

The Golden Lure Module is aPokéStop lure that turns a PokéStop into a Golden PokéStop for 30 minutes. While active, spinning its Photo Disc awards Gimmighoul Coins alongside extra Poké Balls and Berries, and wild Pokémon attracted to the PokéStop can occasionally include Roaming Form Gimmighoul. Trainers must reach Level 6 to install any Lure Module, and normally earn a Golden Lure Module by sending Postcards from Pokémon GO to Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet on Nintendo Switch on five different days.

It helps Trainers gather the 999 Gimmighoul Coins needed to evolve Roaming Form Gimmighoul into Gholdengo, rather than unlocking a proximity evolution button.

How to get it

  • Send a Postcard from Pokémon GO to Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet on five days (one per day, consecutive or not); rare special events have also awarded one.

  • You can hold only one Golden Lure Module at a time; if you already have one at your next five-day Postcard reward, you receive 5 Gimmighoul Coins instead.

How to use it

  1. At Trainer Level 6 or higher, install it in an empty PokéStop lure slot and spin the Photo Disc every five minutes during its 30-minute effect.

  2. Other nearby Trainers can also spin the golden stop and collect its rewards.

Worth knowing

Coordinate with friends before placing a Golden Lure Module so several Trainers can spin the same Golden PokéStop during its 30-minute timer.

It does not directly evolve Gimmighoul. You still need the 999 Gimmighoul Coins shown on its evolution screen.

Placing and sharing a lure

Once you reach Trainer Level 6, open a PokéStop with an empty lure slot, select the Golden Lure Module, and confirm. Spin its Photo Disc whenever the cooldown resets during the 30-minute effect to collect Gimmighoul Coins and bonus items. Any nearby Trainer can spin the same Golden PokéStop and collect their own Gimmighoul Coins and items, even if they have never linked Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet themselves.

Holding and sharing Golden Lure Modules

You can normally hold only one Golden Lure Module in your Item Bag at a time. Sending a Postcard to Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet counts once per day (resetting at midnight local time), and the five qualifying days do not need to be consecutive.

If you already have a Golden Lure Module in your bag when you claim your next five-day Postcard reward, you receive 5 Gimmighoul Coins instead of a second module. Use your existing Golden Lure Module before sending your fifth qualifying Postcard if you want another module. On rare occasions, special events have also offered a Golden Lure Module outside the Switch connection, such as a rank reward in GO Pass: 10th Anniversary during July 2026.

Collecting coins without a guaranteed Gimmighoul

A Golden Lure Module's main value is repeated Photo Disc spins for Gimmighoul Coins and extra Poké Balls and Berries. Standard spins on an active Golden Lure Module award 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 Gimmighoul Coins at a time. Roaming Form Gimmighoul is only an occasional encounter from the lure, not a guaranteed spawn on every module. For reliable personal encounters with Roaming Form Gimmighoul, use the Coin Bag, which recharges through the same daily Postcard connection.

Evolving Roaming Form Gimmighoul into Gholdengo requires 999 Gimmighoul Coins. Once you have collected 999 Gimmighoul Coins, you can evolve Gimmighoul from your Pokémon storage at any time; standing near an active Golden Lure Module is not required. Unlike Glacial, Mossy, Magnetic, and Rainy Lure Modules, the Golden Lure Module helps you gather Gimmighoul Coins rather than unlocking a proximity evolution button.

PokéStops can also turn gold randomly during certain events without a Golden Lure Module. Event-triggered Golden PokéStops award Gimmighoul Coins when spun, but they do not attract Roaming Form Gimmighoul. Conversely, some celebratory events—such as Pokémon GO Anniversary Party events—give PokéStops with an active Golden Lure Module a chance to drop themed jackpot amounts like 77+, 88+, or 99+ Gimmighoul Coins.

Finally, standard event bonuses that extend Lure Module duration (such as three-hour lures on Community Days) generally exclude the Golden Lure Module unless the event announcement states otherwise.
