⚔️ Raids

The Malevolent Pokémon, Galarian Moltres, is a solid Flying-type attacker and a quite poor Dark-type attacker, which is a bit of a surprise given its Dark appearance. Alas, Pokémon GO's meta game is unforgiving, and Galarian Moltres drowns in the sea of excellent Dark types. Luckily, it manages to land as a solid, mid of the pack, Flying-type attacker with Wing Attack and Fly. Other moves are interesting for PvP, but for PvE, here is how they stack up:

  • Sucker Punch generates Energy fast, but it's unlikely to be paired with anything other than Payback, which means it will be rarely the Quick Attack of choice
  • Wing Attack is a solid, not-too-exciting, Quick Attack that you will usually run
  • Fly and Brave Bird trade blows as to which Charge Attack to pick, but Fly often comes out on top
  • Payback is not a great move, and not a great pair to Sucker Punch
  • Ancient Power is by far the lowest DPS move in Raids, and there are no Raid Bosses where G-Moltres would use this move. It's excellent in Master League though!

Like the other Galarian Birds, Galarian Moltres is one of the few Legendaries where it's possible to get a CP low enough to enter the Great League. And boy, does this bird perform! With Sucker Punch being as quick as it is to build up charged moves, Galarian Moltres keeps the pressure up for opponents to really consider their shield usage. The chance of buffing attack and defense with Ancient Power, only to then lower your own defense with Brave Bird could be a formidable combo as well.

🟡 Ultra League

Take everything said about the Great League, and then double it. Galarian Moltres is ranked even higher in Ultra League thanks to its natural bulk coming into play. Pair this bird up with a strong Water, Ground, or Poison type and you'll have a strong core team to build out from. Actually, Ultra League is the place where G-Moltres performs best.

🟣 Master League

Although it doesn't perform as well as in the Ultra League, G-Moltres can perform well in Master League. The main difference from other Leagues is a strong focus on Payback for a consistently strong Dark Charge Move to unleash on the many Psychic and Ghost types, mixed with Ancient Power.
