Overview

Crowned Sword Energy is a form-change resource that transforms Zacian from its Hero of Many Battles form into its Crowned Sword form. Unlocking the form on an individual Zacian requires 1,000 Crowned Sword Energy and 30 Zacian Candy, and the Pokémon must know the Charged Attack Iron Head. During the transformation, Iron Head is replaced by Zacian’s signature Steel-type Charged Attack, Behemoth Blade.

This first transformation is a one-time energy investment for that specific Pokémon: afterward, that same Zacian can switch between Hero of Many Battles and Crowned Sword forms without spending additional Crowned Sword Energy. Because Crowned Sword Energy is tracked on Zacian’s summary screen rather than as a standard inventory item, it does not take up space in your Item Bag.

How to get it

  • Defeat Crowned Sword Zacian in five-star raids during featured event rotations.

  • Complete selected event Special Research or redeem occasional promotional codes when offered.

How to use it

  1. Select a Hero of Many Battles Zacian that knows the Charged Attack Iron Head, then use the form-change button on its summary screen.

  2. Transforming into Crowned Sword form replaces Iron Head with the signature Charged Attack Behemoth Blade.

Worth knowing

Once an individual Zacian has paid the initial energy cost, that specific Pokémon can switch between Hero of Many Battles and Crowned Sword forms without spending more Crowned Sword Energy.

Unlocking Crowned Sword form applies only to that single Zacian; transforming a second Zacian requires another full payment of 1,000 Crowned Sword Energy and 30 Zacian Candy.

First transformation and later use

To transform a Zacian for the first time, make sure it knows the Charged Attack Iron Head—using a Charged TM first if it currently knows a different move—and spend 1,000 Crowned Sword Energy and 30 Zacian Candy. Once unlocked on that individual Zacian, future switches between Hero of Many Battles and Crowned Sword forms do not require another energy payment.

Whenever Zacian enters Crowned Sword form, Iron Head becomes Behemoth Blade; returning the Pokémon to Hero of Many Battles form reverts the move back to Iron Head.

Unlike most Pokémon, Crowned Sword Zacian can enter Max Battles even though it cannot Dynamax or Gigantamax. Inside Max Battles, Behemoth Blade functions as its Max Attack, and you can also unlock and level up Guard and Spirit Max Moves using Max Particles and Zacian Candy. While in Crowned Sword form, Zacian cannot be traded to another Trainer or transferred to Pokémon HOME, though you can revert it to Hero of Many Battles form first if you wish to trade or transfer it.

Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Sword Energy debuted during Pokémon GO Fest 2025 through branching Special Research at in-person events in Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris, followed by five-star raids and ticketed Special Research during GO Fest 2025: Global. Limited-time promotional codes ahead of GO Fest 2025: Global also granted small amounts of energy, and Crowned Sword Zacian returns to five-star raids during scheduled events such as Pokémon GO Wild Area 2026: Sendai and the November 2026 Into the Wild event.

Raid encounters and Adventure Effect

When you defeat Crowned Sword Zacian in a five-star raid, you receive Crowned Sword Energy as part of your raid rewards, and you then start an encounter with Zacian in its Hero of Many Battles form. Catching a raid boss never gives you an already-transformed Crowned Sword Zacian; you still have to accumulate 1,000 Crowned Sword Energy and 30 Zacian Candy to transform the Pokémon yourself.

Behemoth Blade’s Adventure Effect costs 5,000 Stardust and 5 Zacian Candy for six minutes of stronger attacks in raids and Max Battles. This is a separate payment from unlocking Crowned Sword form.

Because the initial unlock applies only to the specific Zacian you transform, building two Crowned Sword Zacian requires two separate initial unlocks: 2,000 Crowned Sword Energy and 60 Zacian Candy in total. Switching an already-unlocked Zacian back to Hero of Many Battles form does not refund energy or transfer the unlock to a newly caught Zacian. In Max Battles, you can also invest resources to upgrade Behemoth Blade as that individual Pokémon’s Max Attack for higher damage.
