Overview

Blaze Fusion Energy is a form-change resource that combines a base Kyurem with a partner Reshiram to create White Kyurem. It is completely separate from Volt Fusion Energy, which fuses Kyurem with Zekrom into Black Kyurem. Unlike Mega Evolution or Primal Reversion, White Kyurem does not revert on a timer and remains fused until you choose to separate it, and you can maintain multiple fused White Kyurem at the same time.

However, separating and fusing again later always requires another full payment of 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy, so always verify your base Kyurem’s stats and Charged Attack before confirming.

How to get it

  • Defeat White Kyurem in five-star Fusion Raids when it is featured in events (regular unfused Kyurem raids do not award this energy).

  • Complete event-specific Special Research, Tour Pass milestones, or promotional distributions when offered; Volt Fusion Energy or other Fusion Energy types cannot be substituted.

How to use it

  1. Keep an eligible Kyurem and Reshiram in your Pokémon storage, open Kyurem’s summary screen, and tap Fuse next to White Kyurem (Reshiram cannot be your active Buddy when fusing).

  2. White Kyurem stays fused indefinitely until you manually tap Separate, which returns both Pokémon at no cost. Multiple White Kyurem can remain fused in your storage at once.

Worth knowing

Make sure the base Kyurem knows the Charged Attack Glaciate before fusing so that it converts into White Kyurem’s signature attack, Ice Burn.

Separating is free, but fusing again requires the full 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy. Unlike Mega or Primal Energy, Blaze Fusion Energy cannot be earned by walking with a Buddy.

Choose the primary Pokémon before paying the fusion cost

White Kyurem inherits its IV appraisal, level, and Shiny status strictly from the primary Pokémon—the base Kyurem on whose screen you press Fuse. Using a high-IV or Shiny Reshiram as the partner does not transfer those attributes to White Kyurem, so save your strongest Reshiram for battle and pick a lower-priority Reshiram as the fusion partner.

Any power-ups applied to White Kyurem increase the fused form’s CP, and if you later separate the pair, all of those levels stay with the base Kyurem while Reshiram returns at its original CP. You can also fuse a Kyurem while it is your active Buddy without losing its Buddy Candy progress or affection hearts, whereas Reshiram cannot be fused while serving as your current Buddy.

Separating White Kyurem costs zero Blaze Fusion Energy and zero Candy, but initial fusion does not unlock a discounted cooldown later. Fusing again always requires another 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy; performing two separate fusions therefore consumes 2,000 Blaze Fusion Energy in total, even if you reunite the exact same Kyurem and Reshiram. This differs from Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta, which follow their own rules for subsequent form changes.

Fusion, separation, and restrictions

Each fusion consumes 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy. Blaze Fusion Energy is tracked on Kyurem’s summary screen rather than occupying space in your Item Bag. Because walking with Kyurem or White Kyurem as your Buddy does not generate Blaze Fusion Energy, you must earn it by defeating White Kyurem in five-star Fusion Raids or by completing event research that specifically rewards it.

White Kyurem remains fused until you manually separate it. While fused, White Kyurem cannot be traded, transferred to the Professor, or sent to Pokémon HOME, and the partner Reshiram remains locked into the fusion until separation. In addition, Shadow and Purified Pokémon are ineligible for fusion.

Debut and signature attack

Blaze Fusion Energy debuted globally during Pokémon GO Tour: Unova in February and March 2025—alongside limited Special Research, Tour Pass rewards, and temporary promotional codes that have since expired—and later returned in five-star raids during Kyurem Fusion Raid Day on January 10, 2026, Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Road of Legends on July 7, 2026, and the scheduled Pokémon GO Wild Area 2026: Global raid rotation on November 14, 2026.

When a Kyurem that knows the Charged Attack Glaciate is fused with Reshiram, Glaciate automatically converts into White Kyurem’s signature Charged Attack, Ice Burn. Always verify Kyurem’s moveset before spending your Blaze Fusion Energy, as fusing a Kyurem without Glaciate will not grant Ice Burn.

Prepare Kyurem before fusing

Defeating White Kyurem in a five-star Fusion Raid awards Blaze Fusion Energy, but the bonus catch encounter is always with an ordinary, unfused Kyurem; you must catch or trade for Reshiram separately. Select your base Kyurem carefully for its IV appraisal, Shiny status, and Special Background, as these carry into White Kyurem while your Reshiram remains unavailable for separate use until you unfuse the pair.

Glaciate becomes Ice Burn during fusion and returns after separation. Ice Burn is not taught directly with a Charged TM or Elite Charged TM. Verify Glaciate on the base Kyurem before spending your energy.

Knowing Ice Burn also unlocks White Kyurem’s Adventure Effect outside of battle. Spending 5,000 Stardust and 5 Kyurem Candy activates Ice Burn for 10 minutes, which slows the movement of the target ring during Pokémon encounters and increases your chance of catching Pokémon, including encounters handled by connected accessory devices. You can extend the timer in 10-minute increments up to two hours per activation, and stack extensions up to 24 hours in total. Only one Adventure Effect can be active at a time.
