Shadow Golisopod PvE Analysis

Recommended moves

Shadow Golisopod performs reasonably well in both its typings, but being outclassed by a long list of its peers means that this Pokémon is better used in lower tier Raids instead of the challenging bouts.

It's stronger as a Water-type attacker, dealing damage higher than Shadow Gyarados and regular Quaquaval and Greninja (Hydro Cannon variants). However, Shadow Feraligatr and Shadow Crawdaunt surpass it in DPS.

As a Bug type, Shadow Golisopod is behind Mega Scizor and Volcarona in damage numbers. Once again, it just means that there are several better and cheaper options to use in Raids, making it questionable to power up a Shadow Golisopod.

In Gyms, Shadows always have a tough time due to their lowered DEF stat and the same is the case with Shadow Golisopod, whose regular form actually has a decent DEF.

Shadow Golisopod PvP Analysis

Recommended moves

🔵 Great League

The Shadow bonus transforms Golisopod from good to monster in the Great League, with this formidable threat now slaying more than half the meta! Fury Cutter has always been tremendous for having a brilliant DPT and EPT (both 4.0), but the extra oomph to its damage helps Shadow Golisopod take out threats the regular form could only dream of, including Corviknight, Furret, Melmetal, Medicham, Tinkaton, Vigoroth, Shadow Quagsire, and Shadow Sableye. In fact, with just one extra Fury Cutter farmed, Shadow Golisopod also beats Araquanid.

🟡 Ultra League

Unlike the Great League, where the Shadow is a straight upgrade over the regular, both forms are more or less the same in the Ultra League, with the Shadow being slightly better. Shadow Golisopod gains wins over Lapras, Snorlax, Zygarde Complete, and Shadow Ninetales, but loses to Blastoise, Dusknoir, Melmetal, and surprisingly, Virizion. Wins over Alolan Muk, Florges, and Alolan Ninetales definitely come in handy.

🟣 Master League

The Master League is, unfortunately, very overwhelming for Shadow Golisopod. Do keep in mind that if you’re looking to run this Pokémon in the Master League just because you’re bored, the non-Shadow form is better.
