    Shadow Haxorus PvE Analysis

    Recommended moves

    • Dragon Attacker:DragonDragon TailDragonBreaking Swipe

Shadow Haxorus emerges as the strongest Shadow Dragon Pokémon on its debut, outpacing the Shadows of Palkia, Salamence, and Garchomp in DPS. However, with its traditional moveset of Dragon Tail and Breaking Swipe, Shadow Garchomp is bulkier and also doesn't need an Elite Charged TM for Breaking Swipe. That said, it is a clear improvement over Shadow Salamence and Shadow Palkia, despite the lower bulk. In fact, Breaking Swipe on Shadow Haxorus is enough to outperform the famed Draco Meteor | Outrage combo of Shadow Salamence. In a Raid battle against the toughest of Dragon Bosses, a level 50 Eternatus is still unrealistic for many trainers. Top DPS options like Mega Zygarde and Mega Baxcalibur are yet to debut in the game, and Mega Rayquaza is the top Mega Evolution choice (over Mega Garchomp). So while building a squad of six, you'd want Mega Rayquaza followed by Shadows, in which Shadow Haxorus is undoubtedly the second-best pick. An ATK stat of 284 (equal to Rayquaza, by the way) amounting to a monstrous 341 ATK through the Shadow bonus will always be relevant. Considering the fact that no other non-Legendary Dragon has ATK as high as Haxorus, this Pokémon will remain the top non-Legendary Shadow Dragon in the meta. Lastly, even though Shadow Haxorus is an offensive unit, the rest of its moves hardly get any application. Counter and Earthquake can be a fun counter to Steel Pokémon in lower-tier Raids, but refrain from usage in challenging Raids since the moveset isn't optimal, and both Fast and Charged Attacks lack STAB. Surf is also not optimal as it's not the strongest Water-type move. Dragon Claw is straight out inferior to Breaking Swipe in PvE, and Night Slash is weak even on Dark types. As a result, Dragon Tail and Breaking Swipe is the only and best way to run Shadow Haxorus. 🐲 By now it's obvious that bulk isn't Shadow Haxorus' strength by any means, so placing this Pokémon in Gyms isn't the smartest call.

    Recommended moves

    • Great League:DragonDragon TailDarkNight SlashWaterSurf
    • Ultra League:DragonDragon TailDarkNight SlashDragonDragon Claw
    • Master League:DragonDragon TailDarkNight SlashDragonDragon Claw

In Great League and Ultra League, Shadow Haxorus is extremely fragile due to its exceptionally high ATK and the two League's CP restrictions reducing its bulk even further (on top of the Shadow nerf to its DEF). As a result, Shadow Haxorus performs very poorly in these battles.

    🟣 Master League

Coming to the Master League, regular Haxorus was once an underrated threat in this format, helping players secure victories with it in even high Ranked GBL matches. However, the energy nerf to Breaking Swipe and the damage nerf to Dragon Tail in the Tales of Transformation GBL Season spelt doom for Haxorus' prospects in the Master League. Now, with Shadow Haxorus operating under reduced bulk than usual and facing Pokémon way stronger than itself (including several Legendary Dragons), it is just a massive disappointment.
