Virizion in the meta
PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Grass Attacker:
Double Kick
Leaf Blade - Fighting Attacker:
Double Kick
Sacred Sword *
Virizion, like Cobalion, is a defensive unit of the Legendary Swords of Justice 🗡️ and shares the same stats and PvE-relevant moveset: Double Kick and Sacred Sword. 🤝
This also means that Virizion’s less-than-impressive offensive potential is a roadblock to its importance in the meta. At least it has a nice second Charged Move in Leaf Blade, which can deal some reasonable Grass-type damage.
💥 The best PvE moves for Virizion are Double Kick and Sacred Sword.
⚔️ Raids
Numerous Fighting-type Pokémon outperform Virizion due to their higher stats. Even Terrakion is an amazing choice. 😊
🛡️ Gyms
Legendaries aren't allowed to defend Gyms.
PvP Analysis
Recommended moves
- Ultra League:
Double Kick
Leaf Blade
Sacred Sword - Master League:
Double Kick
Leaf Blade
Sacred Sword
Virizion has an outstanding moveset comprising STAB Grass and Fighting-type attacks, which effectively pressurize Dark, Steel, Water, and Ground Pokémon — common PvP threats. 🍃🤺
Its stats give it potential across all three GBL tiers, so it's worth building one for PvP, as its PvE relevance is limited. However, you should note that Virizion is double-weak to Flying-type moves and has additional weaknesses to Fairy, Ice, Fire, Poison, and Psychic types. These weaknesses often lead to losses for Virizion. ☹️
💥 The best PvP moves for Virizion are Double Kick, Sacred Sword, and Leaf Blade.
🔵 Great League
Virizion’s performance in the Great League often leans toward the losing side due to its defensive struggles. However, it still manages to claim wins against some big names, including Azumarill, Feraligatr (including its Shadow form), Carbink, and Lickilicky. 🥳
🟡 Ultra League
The Ultra League is Virizion’s best playing field, thanks to the abundance of Dark, Water, and Steel Pokémon. It gets the upper hand against threats like Registeel, Cobalion, Guzzlord, Malamar, as well as Ampharos, Primeape, and even Shadow Drapion! 😳
Even in tough matchups, Sacred Sword and Leaf Blade—both cheap and powerful—can deal substantial damage, so never underestimate Virizion. 😉 However, Flying- and Psychic-types remain looming threats in this league, so tread carefully! 👀
🟣 Master League
Surprise, surprise! Virizion is actually a strong attacker in the Master League, capable of defeating some of the most fearsome Pokémon here. Rhyperior, Dialga (including its Origin Forme), Landorus Therian, Groudon, Kyogre, Melmetal, and Excadrill—Virizion can take them down! 😱
Despite its strengths, beware of the Dragons, Fairy-types, and Necrozma fusions, which pose significant threats. 🥵
