Shadow Groudon in the meta
PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Ground Attacker:
Mud Shot
Precipice Blades *
Shadow Groudon became available in Pokémon GO on March 2024. Since then, it has shaken up the Master League meta and scared some raid bosses. Shadow Groudon is the second-best Ground-type Pokémon in the game right now, and the 12th best Pokémon overall.
With Mud Shot and its signature move Precipice Blades, Shadow Groudon is feared by every Fire, Electric, Rock, Poison, and Steel type raid boss out there. Remember: you'll need an Elite Charged TM to unlock Precipice Blades and it's worth doing so, since Earthquake puts Groudon below many Ground-type peers.

- Great League: Shadow Groudon fits in Great League, but that's not something that's about to shake up the Open meta. Although it can be a spicy pick, strongly consider holding it at or below 1500 CP for a while.
- Ultra League: Even being the best version of Groudon for the Ultra League, Shadow Groudon is a poor fit in this league. I'm sorry, Ultra League fans.
- Master League: In PvP, Shadow Groudon really shines in the Master League, being an absolute beast. The best moveset is Mud Shot and Precipice Blades, but you can use the 40-energy Fire Punch to burn shields with ease. Both Precipice Blades and Fire Punch need an Elite Charge TM to unlock them. If you don't want to use an Elite Charge TM, you can try Solar Beam for coverage and a big nasty surprise.
