Recommended moves

With an exceptional DPS figure that's 9% behind Primal Groudon, but still ahead of the roster of all other Ground types in Pokémon GO, Shadow Groudon is a prized possession for any trainer.

With Ground being super-effective against five different types, you will find yourself using Shadow Groudon in many ⚔️ Raid battles.

This powerful Pokémon has a range of Charged Attacks but only two Fast Attacks, making its functionality quite straightforward.

  • Mud Shot and Precipice Blades form its most effective toolkit, dishing out massive Ground-type damage. Needless to say, Precipice Blades puts Earthquake out of commission.
  • Dragon Tail may appear to come in handy against Dragon Raid Bosses weak to both Dragon and Ground type moves (like Reshiram and Zekrom), but Mud Shot ends up being the stronger move due to STAB. Besides, since Shadow Groudon is relatively lower on bulk, it helps to use a high energy generating Fast Attack like Mud Shot.
  • Fire Punch is cheap and comes in clutch when Shadow Groudon is close to fainting and unable to get to Precipice Blades. This chips in some much-required damage, and is particularly effective against Steel-type Raid Bosses. Going by its low cost and resulting utility, it is recommended over Fire Blast.
  • Solar Beam is unnecessary, providing no real purpose since you're not using Shadow Groudon against Bosses weak to Grass anyway. Yes, Rock types are an exception but you have the stronger and lower cooldown STAB Precipice Blades for that.

However, with Mud Shot, Shadow Groudon is clearly superior, beating Kyogre, Black Kyurem, Dawn Wings Necrozma, and even Dragon Tail Groudon!
