The following chart shows Kyogre's DPS and TDO for every fast and charge attack combination. This chart is useful for comparing the relative strength of Kyogre's movesets. You can change the weather and the opposing Pokémon to see how it affects the rankings.

If you are unable to get Kyogre with its best moveset, we recommend to use Waterfall/Surf. You will lose around 6.8% DPS and TDO, which makes these moves a viable alternative to Kyogre's strongest moveset (Waterfall/Origin Pulse).

Legacy Elite Fast and Charge Attacks can only be obtained during special events, or by using an Elite Fast TM or an Elite Charge TM. Legacy moves are marked with an asterisk (*). The table above provides information on different moves Kyogre has in Pokémon GO, along with their corresponding DPS (Damage per Second) and TDO (Total Damage Output).

      PvE AnalysisPvE Analysis

Although normal Kyogre is significantly weaker than Shadow Kyogre, and especially Primal Kyogre, it is one of the strongest Water-type attackers, especially if you caught a Kyogre with Origin Pulse, which was available during select events.

Waterfall and Origin Pulse are Kyogre's strongest moves, and it is well worth spending an Elite Charged TM to get Origin Pulse. Kyogre's second-best charge move is Surf, but there are better attackers out there: Mega Swampert and Mega Gyarados both perform better than Kyogre with Surf.

      PvE AnalysisPvP Analysis

Kyogre is a Pokémon you will most likely encounter in the Master League, somewhat less often in the Ultra League. Despite its formidable stats, Kyogre is not a great Pokémon for PvP. We recommend these moves for Kyogre, regardless of which league you plan to fight in: Waterfall, Thunder, and Origin Pulse.

      • Great LeagueKyogre is not eligible to participate in the Great League.
      • Ultra LeagueKyogre is not good in the Ultra League, regardless of which moveset it has.
      • Master LeagueOrigin Pulse Kyogre is perfectly viable in the Master League, but it can't perform well without Thunder. Thunder is mandatory in order to have decent type coverage, and it allows Kyogre to rank in the top 60 best ML fighters.

              Catch probability with multiple throws

In order to help Trainers understand their overall odds when catching Kyogre, we enable the functionality to showing the total chance to catch it depending on the number of available throws. We calculate this chance as if you repeated the same throw N-number of times.

To activate this functionality, change the number of Number of throws to a value greater than 1. The Number of throws option is available in the configuration options above the chart

              Catch rate formula

Pokémon GO catch rate formula can be expressed as follows:

              • CATCH_MULTIPLIERS = ball * curve * berry * throwType * (type1Medal + type2Medal / 2)
              • CATCH_RATE = 1 - Math.pow(1 - baseCatchRate / (2 * cpm), CATCH_MULTIPLIERS)

There are different multipliers that come into play when calculating catch rate.

Curved throws are more effective than regular throws, stronger types of Poké Ball have a higher catch rate, and using a Razz Berry or a Golden Razz Berry also improves your chances.
