Shadow Milotic's Tier Ranking & Meta Analysis

Read meta analysis

Shadow Milotic PvE Analysis

Recommended moves

Even with a boost to its attacking potential, Shadow Milotic doesn't have the power necessary to carve a place for itself in the Water-type meta. You can perhaps use it in 1-Star Raids, but keep it away from higher tiers of battles.

⚔️ Raids

If you don't have a Mega or Legendary set, or even the Hydro Cannon wielding starters, use Gyarados instead.

🛡️ Gyms

Shadow Milotic remains bulky despite its DEF nerf, and with the moves Dragon Tail and Blizzard, it can rudely surprise the common Dragon-type attackers and Grass types that are meant to counter it.

💎 The best PvE moves for Shadow Milotic are Waterfall and Surf, although you should go with Dragon Tail and Blizzard for Gym defense.

Shadow Milotic PvP Analysis

Recommended moves

🔵 Great League

Shadow Milotic isn't any better than regular Milotic, exchanging some wins and losses. The Shadow version takes out Shadow Dragonite, Galarian Moltres, Azumarill, Bastiodon, Feraligatr, and Shadow Giratina Altered while the regular variant gets Blastoise, Galarian Corsola, Dusclops, and Shadow Marowak.

Either isn't too meta but it's a fun pick nonetheless.

🟡 Ultra League

Shadow Milotic is a straight upgrade over its regular version in the Ultra League, taking advantage of its higher offensive prowess to take down many more targets. These include Primeape, Turtonator, Shadow Nidoqueen, Florges, Crustle, Kommo-o, Shadow Gyarados, and Zygarde Complete. On the other hand, it loses Shadow Dragonite, Blastoise, Guzzlord, and Gastrodon.

🟣 Master League

The nerf to Dragon Tail in the Tales of Transformation Season and the sheer power level in the Master League; these factors put down Shadow Milotic severely, giving it no functionality in this format.

💎 The best PvP moves for Shadow Milotic are Dragon Tail, Surf and Wrap.
