Barboach is one of the premier Pokémon in the Little Cup, using its spammy moveset and one double weakness to Grass to its advantage. Shadow Barboach enjoys the boost to its offensive strength but also has lower bulk, making it a sidegrade and exchanging some wins and losses with the regular variant.

Shadow Barboach is able to beat Dark types like Vullaby, Mandibuzz, Obstagoon, and Umbreon, Pokémon that Barboach can't beat. On the other hand, regular Barboach takes down Skorupi, Swinub, Wooper, and Toxicroak. It's best to use regular Barboach and pair it with a Bug type that can account for its losses against the said Dark types. Its wins are also more diverse.

Shadow Barboach is not viable for any other PvP League.
