Shadow Ampharos in the meta
PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Electric Attacker:
Volt Switch
Zap Cannon
Due to a relatively low ATK stat and the sheer competition in Electric types of Pokémon GO, Shadow Ampharos is a rather underwhelming attacker in the meta.
Mega Ampharos totally dismantled the Shadow version in DPS rankings, so if you really like this Pokémon, please purify and Mega Evolve it.
⚔️ Raids
A damage output at the level of regular Manectric is quite disappointing, so make Shadow Ampharos sit it out when using Electric Pokémon in Raids.
🛡️ Gyms
Ampharos’ DEF is already bad and the Shadow makes it worse. No Gym defense for this Pokémon!

🔵 Great League
Balanced stats across the board and an excellent set of moves make Shadow Ampharos a legitimate threat in the Great League. Moreover, it packs everything: high energy gains, cheap Charged Moves, and heavy hits.
All these help Shadow Ampharos dominate Water and Flying types, while also scoring big with Annihilape (both regular and Shadow), Forretress, Alolan Ninetales, Wigglytuff, Clefable, and Galarian Weezing.
Also, Ampharos learns so many Charged Moves in Pokémon GO that the opponent is often unprepared for what lies in store. You simply cannot go wrong with power and mind games!
At the same time, do keep in mind that regular Ampharos is more powerful in these battles, beating the likes of Cresselia, Shadow Scizor, Shadow Steelix, Swampert, and Shadow Drapion. While it loses Wigglytuff, Annihilape, and Corviknight, the magnitude of wins secured by regular Ampharos makes it the preferred version in the Great League.
🟡 Ultra League
Shadow Ampharos is less dominant in the Ultra League but still a massive headache to deal with for many players. Once again, it overpowers Water types, Flying types (not Drifblim), Shadow Scizor, Shadow Dusknoir, and Shadow Annihilape.
However, it is once again less victorious than regular Ampharos, who goes on to beat Clefable, Steelix, Gastrodon, Drifblim, Corviknight, and Malamar. As such, you should stick with regular Ampharos if you're looking for the better Pokémon in PvP.
🟣 Master League
Shadow Ampharos, or even regular Ampharos for that matter, get completely destroyed in the Master League.
