Overview
Daily Adventure Incense is a free daily item that attracts unusual wild Pokémon to your map location while you walk. It lasts 15 minutes under normal rules and only generates spawns when you are physically moving. Its encounter pool includes rare Pokémon that rarely appear in the wild, most notably Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. You can hold only one Daily Adventure Incense at a time, and it does not take up space in your Item Bag.
When the timer finishes, the game offers a shareable recap card showing the Pokémon you caught with the Incense during that walk.
How to get it
Unlock Daily Adventure Incense at Trainer Level 4 in the current leveling system by starting its introductory Special Research, then receive a free replacement each day at midnight after using the previous one.
Extra copies cannot normally be bought or saved up across multiple days.
How to use it
Activate it just before a walk and keep moving during the effect.
An unused or still-active daily Incense can affect replenishment; avoid leaving activation until the last minutes of the day.
Worth knowing
Activation grants 30 Poké Balls when your combined Poké Ball, Great Ball, and Ultra Ball stock is 30 or fewer and you have available Item Bag space.
A Galarian bird is a possible encounter, not a promised daily reward.
Identify its encounters and budget your balls
Activating Daily Adventure Incense surrounds your avatar in blue fog, and the Pokémon it attracts have swirling blue rings around them on the map rather than the pink aura used by standard Incense. Watch the map directly to start an encounter, as these personal spawns do not appear on the Nearby list.
If you are low on balls when you activate Daily Adventure Incense, the game automatically grants 30 Poké Balls. This check adds your Poké Balls, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls together at the moment of activation: if your combined total is 30 or fewer, you receive 30 Poké Balls; if you have 31 or more, you receive none.
For example, carrying 10 Poké Balls, 10 Great Balls, and 10 Ultra Balls totals 30 and awards the full 30 Poké Balls on top of your existing stock, raising your total to 60. The game checks this threshold only when you start the Incense, so dropping to 30 or fewer balls later during the walk will not trigger a second grant.
Daily refresh and low-ball supplies
A fresh Daily Adventure Incense is supplied at midnight local time when the previous one has been completely used. Only one can be carried, and extras cannot be bought or stockpiled. Activation is unavailable between 11:45 p.m. and midnight. The Help Center recommends starting before 11:44 p.m.; allow more time if an event or Adventure Effect extends the session.
Daily Adventure Incense itself does not occupy space in your Item Bag, but you must have open Item Bag space at activation to receive the 30 Poké Ball grant. The feature launched on July 25, 2022, alongside its introductory Special Research. In the current Level 1–80 leveling system, GO Hub and Serebii list Level 4 as the unlock requirement, whereas some older tables list Level 7.
Galarian birds and longer sessions
Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres are rare possible encounters whenever Daily Adventure Incense is active. Their Shiny forms entered the permanent encounter pool during the Galarian Expedition event on October 4, 2024. Neither using the item every day nor extending its timer guarantees that a Galarian bird will appear.
Origin Forme Dialga’s Roar of Time Adventure Effect pauses the Daily Adventure Incense timer so you can keep finding spawns on a longer walk. Each 6-minute extension costs 5,000 Stardust and 5 Dialga Candy, and you can add up to 2 hours at a time (up to a 24-hour maximum). Seasonal progression can also lengthen the base timer: during the Twilight Trails Season, reaching Rank 50 on the monthly GO Pass doubles Daily Adventure Incense duration to 30 minutes until that GO Pass period ends.
You cannot activate Daily Adventure Incense at the same time as standard Incense, the Coin Bag, the Mystery Box, or items shared through Party Share.
Non-Shiny Galarian birds have a 0.3% base catch rate and a 90% base flee rate, meaning they almost always escape and flee after a single breakout. Shiny Galarian birds share that low 0.3% base catch rate, but they do not flee from manual encounters unless you run out of balls or are moving too fast.
Stock up on balls and start the encounter yourself rather than using a connected accessory such as a Pokémon GO Plus: whether triggered by an automatic throw or a button press, accessory catch attempts make only one throw with a single Poké Ball, and the Shiny bird will flee if it breaks out.
