PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Electric Attacker:
Thunder Shock
Aura Wheel - Dark Attacker:
Bite
Aura Wheel
The Electric/Dark-type Morpeko packs a great design and is super adorable. Unfortunately, this doesn't translate to any viability in PvE as its stats are too low for dealing damage or taking hits.
⚔️ Raids - There are better Electric-type options both in terms of offense and bulk, leaving Morpeko a quirky Dex filler at best 😬.
🛡️ Gyms - It goes down effortlessly even to Fast Move damage, so pointless keeping it in Gyms 🙂.
PvP Analysis
Recommended moves
- Great League:
Thunder Shock
Aura Wheel
Psychic Fangs - Ultra League:
Thunder Shock
Aura Wheel
Psychic Fangs
Morpeko can switch from Full Belly Mode to Hangry Mode using its signature move Aura Wheel, transforming from an Electric-type to a Dark-type move.
And, it actually results in a busted PvP moveset! Thunder Shock coupled with Aura Wheel and Psychic Fangs is a very promising set, as Aura Wheel is a Wild Charge or Close Combat clone without the DEF nerfs 😱. Rather, it increases Morpeko's ATK with the Electric-type move turning Dark-type 😈.
Not to mention, Psychic Fangs debuffs the opponent's DEF!
While this makes Morpeko an insane offensive threat, the issue is its terrible bulk 🫤. For context, even Galvantula is bulkier than Morpeko 😅.
So while Morpeko will have its moments of glory, it falls down like a deck of cards to almost any move 📉.
🔵 Great League - Both Electric and Dark types are a boon to PvP teams due to the Pokémon they deal super-effective damage against. Morpeko juxtaposes both, and claims victims such as Azumarill, Malamar, Skeledirge, Oranguru, Sableye, and more! 👏
Basically, it's a glass cannon that is worth using, with an OP moveset balanced out by terrible bulk ⚡⚫.
🟡 Ultra League - Morpeko's poor bulk catches up with it in the Ultra League and limits its remarkable moveset’s prospects 😖.
The rise in Charmers, Mud Slappers, and other high Fast Move damage threats, along with more offensive Pokémon in the mix, neutralizes Morpeko and makes it just an underwhelming pick in this format 👎.
🟣 Master League - It goes from Full Belly to Hangry to Non-existent Mode in the Master League 😅.
