Shadow Darkrai PvE Analysis

Recommended moves

Shadow Darkrai was always short of a Dark-type Charged Attack for true meta relevancy, but with the Twilight Trails Season rewarding this Mythical with Foul Play, Shadow Darkrai finally becomes one of the best Dark Pokémon in the game.

In fact, its DPS is only lower than the eventual Mega Absol Z and Mega Houndoom with Dark Pulse+. While other Dark-type Megas potentially getting additional Charged Attacks will surpass Mega Houndoom (like Mega Tyranitar and Mega Absol), Shadow Darkrai will remain a viable attacker, with the advantage of resisting both Ghost and Psychic moves, giving it a defensive edge over Ghost-type attackers in these battles.

Do note that Darkrai has a powerful Mega Evolution which will be overall better than Shadow Darkrai in combat. If Mega Darkrai also gets an additional Charged Attack, it could very well be the undisputed ruler of Dark types in Pokémon GO.

Shadow Darkrai is way too fragile for the Ultra League, and is easily countered by the many Fighting, Bug, and Fairy types in this meta. It can trouble Ghost types but struggles to even break through Cresselia, making it underwhelming.

🟣 Master League

Unfortunately, Shadow Darkrai still fails to succeed in PvP despite having no restrictions on its CP. The dominance of the Crowned dogs, various other Fairy types, and the inability to take even neutral damage courtesy of its poor bulk make Shadow Darkrai a bad choice for the Master League.
