PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Water Attacker:
Water Gun
Hydro Pump
Suicune has its stats leaning heavily towards bulk, with a below average ATK stat in its arsenal. If that wasn't unfortunate enough already, this Legendary also doesn't learn a Water-type Fast Attack in Pokémon GO. As a result, it's virtually useless in PvE. 🙁
⚔️ Raids
Without even an adequate Water-type attackset, there is no scope for Suicune in Raids.
🛡️ Gyms
Legendaries can't be put in Gyms.
🔮 Dynamax Pokémon
Suicune is incredibly bulky so while it can be used to tank hits from the DMax/GMax Boss, keep in mind that it doesn't have any Fast Attacks with the coveted 0.5s figure. So, it's best to play switch-in/switch-out with Suicune instead of going all out with it in battle.
Another factor to consider is that Suicune doesn't learn a Water-type Fast Attack in Pokémon GO, so its best shot is using Max Darkness (via Snarl). Even then, Snarl has a large cooldown (1.50s). 😐
PvP Analysis
Recommended moves
🔵 Great League - Taking advantage of its impressive bulk and tacky attackset, Suicune is an absolutely menace in the Great League. The buffed Ice Fang deals good damage figures and gains energy fairly quickly to help Suicune use Bubble Beam, a low cost attack (40 energy) guaranteed to debuff the opponent's ATK. This effectively makes Suicune bulkier and forces the opponent to switch out more often than not. 🔁
Aside from Bubble Beam’s tactics, Suicune also packs a punch with the powerful Scald, a relatively cheap attack (50 energy) with a sizzling 85 DMG (also 30% chance to drop the opponent’s ATK). ♨️
All this leads to Suicune destroying a good section of the Great League meta, including Clodsire, Corviknight, Gastrodon, Jumpluff, Charjabug, Skeledirge, Grumpig, Wigglytuff, Malamar, Shadow Quagsire, and more. A solid pick overall! 🎖️
🟡 Ultra League - Suicune is a handy Pokémon in the Ultra League as its Ice type attacks (Ice Fang + Ice Beam) help a great deal in a meta filled with Dragon, Flying, and Grass types. Scald is an added bonus.
Even in losing matchups, Suicune can trouble the opponent quite a lot. While this Legendary fulfils an offensive role with its icy attackset, you can opt to use it in a supportive role by dropping Ice Beam for Bubble Beam. After all, Suicune is bulky enough to take hits and debuff the opponent's ATK while being at it. 👍
🟣 Master League - Suicune brings in some spice in the Master League but with the existence of superior Water Pokémon like Kyogre, Palkia Origin, and Palkia who can win you battles, you need not opt for Suicune in this format. 😅
💎 The best PvP attacks for Suicune in PvP are Ice Fang, Scald and Ice Beam/Bubble Beam.
