      Entei in the meta

      Entei in the meta

      PvE AnalysisPvE Analysis

Entei has solid stats and moveset, but over the years, this Gen 2 Legendary has fallen from grace, with several Fire types surpassing it in firepower. 🔥

It’s still worth adding to your Fire-type team, but do know that it’s outclassed, even by all Blast Burn starters. 😕

      ⚔️ Raids

When not accounting for Megas and Shadows, it’s far behind in DPS. Fire-type starters get the powerful Blast Burn on their Community Days, and they’re cheaper to max out than Entei. As such, this roaring Legendary is often neglected due to the wide variety of stronger options available. 😶‍🌫️

      🛡️ Gyms

Legendaries can't be put in Gyms.

      🔮 Dynamax

Dynamax Entei is a decent addition to the Fire-type DMax meta in Pokémon GO, but it’s surpassed by Gigantamax Charizard, Dynamax Charizard, and Dynamax Moltres in sheer power against Grass and Bug-type Max Battles. Their partial Flying typing offers better resistance. 🔥

In the same vein, DMax Entei does have an advantage over DMax Moltres and Charizard in Ice-type Max Battles. 🙌

Keep in mind that since DMax Entei has high HP, it’s a good healer! 👀

Regardless, DMax Entei will be gradually outclassed by several Dynamax forms of Fire Pokémon such as the starters, Darmanitan, Chandelure, Volcarona, and more. 🙂

💎 Entei’s best moveset for PvP is Fire Spin and Overheat.

      PvE AnalysisPvP Analysis

      🔵 Great League

Entei feels awkward in the Great League, a format full of Water-type threats that make quick work of this Legendary Beast. Besides, it has a clunky moveset that often leads to losses. Avoid using it here. 😬

      🟡 Ultra League

A handful of victories against Registeel, Steelix, Grumpig, Cresselia, Clefable, Venusaur, and Corviknight are all that it can manage, making it a bad pick for the long run. There are so many better Fire types to choose from in the Ultra League that Entei is hardly ever considered. 🥱

      🟣 Master League

Entei brings its best to the Master League, beating Fairy types like Togekiss, Xerneas, Enamorus (Incarnate), and Zacian (Hero), Steel types like Metagross, Melmetal, Dusk Mane Necrozma, and Excadrill, and Ice types like Mamoswine and Kyurem (Black). 🤯

This makes Entei a great partner to Dragon-type Pokémon in the Master League, a niche that is much appreciated! 🙌

💎 Entei’s best moveset for PvP is Fire Fang, Overheat, and Scorching Sands.

      Mega Pokémon that boost Entei

      Photobomb

      Fire Fire

      Pokédex informationMore information

Mega and Primal Raid BonusMega Pokémon boost the attack power of all other Pokémon when battling in Raid Battles by 10%. Attacks that share their type with the Mega Pokémon's type(s) receive a 30% boost. However, these bonuses do not stack if there are multiple Mega-Evolved Pokémon battling simultaneously; only the higher boost will be applied.

Mega and Primal Catch BonusWhile a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Note on Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon, and Mega Rayquaza
      • Primal Kyogre boosts Water-, Electric- and Bug-type attacks and Pokémon.
      • Primal Groudon boosts Fire-, Grass- and Ground-type attacks and Pokémon.
      • Mega Rayquaza boosts Flying-, Dragon- and Psychic-type attacks and Pokémon.

              Catch probability with multiple throws

In order to help Trainers understand their overall odds when catching Entei, we enable the functionality to showing the total chance to catch it depending on the number of available throws. We calculate this chance as if you repeated the same throw N-number of times.

To activate this functionality, change the number of Number of throws to a value greater than 1. The Number of throws option is available in the configuration options above the chart

              Catch rate formula

Pokémon GO catch rate formula can be expressed as follows:

              • CATCH_MULTIPLIERS = ball * curve * berry * throwType * (type1Medal + type2Medal / 2)
              • CATCH_RATE = 1 - Math.pow(1 - baseCatchRate / (2 * cpm), CATCH_MULTIPLIERS)

There are different multipliers that come into play when calculating catch rate.

Curved throws are more effective than regular throws, stronger types of Poké Ball have a higher catch rate, and using a Razz Berry or a Golden Razz Berry also improves your chances.
