PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Fire Attacker:
Incinerate
Blast Burn * - Ghost Attacker:
Hex
Shadow Ball
Skeledirge doesn't have a high Attack stat to begin with. Its 207 Attack is the lowest of all Fire-type starters, making it an inferior Blast Burn user in PvE. Its signature move, Torch Song, is good but simply outclassed by Blast Burn. 🔥
That said, it can be a decent Fire-type attacker for beginners, as Community Day will help trainers obtain a Blast Burn Skeledirge. However, it's still outclassed by many Fire-types. As a Ghost-type, it also doesn't compete well since it lacks a Ghost-type Fast Attack. 🐊
⚔️ Raids
Even excluding Megas and Shadows, Skeledirge is still outclassed by Reshiram, Darmanitan, Heatran, Volcarona, Chandelure, and all other Blast Burn starters.
Skeledirge is simply not built for raids. 🚫
🛡️ Gyms
Skeledirge is decently bulky, and with its Ghost typing, it double resists Fighting, Bug, and Normal attacks, while also resisting Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice, Poison, and Steel. 😯
Combined with a hard-hitting Fast Move like Incinerate, Skeledirge makes for a solid Gym defender! Plus, it looks awesome while doing it! 🐊🔥

Shadow Ball
Skeledirge is one of the best PvP standard Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Whatever negatives it had in PvE, it makes up for in PvP thanks to its remarkable Fire/Ghost typing, GBL-friendly stats, and an excellent moveset. 👏👏👏
Speaking of moveset, Skeledirge ironically doesn't need Blast Burn. Instead, it performs brilliantly with Incinerate, Torch Song, and Disarming Voice or Shadow Ball.
With 45 energy and 70 damage, Torch Song is a clone of Crunch and Disarming Voice, but it does one better by providing a guaranteed 25% Attack boost.
Just one Torch Song makes Incinerate extremely oppressive for the opposition. This makes Torch Song preferable over Blast Burn, so for PvP, you can skip the Community Day move altogether! And remember: Torch Song doesn't need an Elite TM, so a regular Charged TM will do! 🤩
🔵 Great League
The Incinerate and Torch Song combo is enough to take down Great League dangers like Primeape, Toxapex, Clodsire, Drifblim, and Mandibuzz, all of which take super-effective damage from Skeledirge.
But there's one major threat that completely walls Skeledirge’s STAB Fire and Ghost moves: Guzzlord. 👿
That’s why this croc needs Disarming Voice. With this Fairy-type move (Guzzlord is double weak to Fairy), Skeledirge can beat this Ultra Beast in all shield situations! 😎
Aside from expected Grass and Bug Pokémon that fall to Skeledirge, it also beats Wigglytuff, Steelix, Grumpig, Annihilape, Galarian Weezing, Cradily, Dewgong, and Drifblim. 👍
Overall, the bulky and hard-hitting Skeledirge is a must-have Pokémon for the Great League. 🥳
🟡 Ultra League
Skeledirge doesn't slow down in Ultra League. In fact, it becomes more terrifying than ever thanks to Torch Song. The guaranteed Attack boost helps Skeledirge eliminate several Steel and Grass opponents like Registeel, Cobalion, Virizion, Venusaur, as well as Guzzlord, Giratina (Altered), Malamar, Annihilape, Cresselia, Ampharos, Clefable, and Shadow Drapion. 😄
Trainers, put up a “Beware, fiery ghost croc” sign ahead of the Ultra League. ⚠️
🟣 Master League
You’d expect Skeledirge to be bad in the Master League due to its low Attack, but you’d be surprised by what it can do! 😲
Skeledirge beats Zacian (Hero), Xerneas, Enamorus (Incarnate), Togekiss, Charm Primarina, Dusk Mane Necrozma, Excadrill, Metagross, Melmetal, Icicle Spear Mamoswine, and White Kyurem! 😳
This makes Skeledirge an excellent teammate for Dragon-type Pokémon, so feel free to use it in the Master League to disrupt your opponent’s strategies! 🐊🤩
Skeledirge offers tremendous support to any team, does a surprising amount of damage, and can break cores. It's one of the few Pokémon viable in all three major PvP platforms. 🔥
