PvE Analysis

⚔️ Raids – Attacking Raid bosses is the absolute last place you should see a Shadow Metapod. Not only for its appalling moveset of Bug Bite and Struggle / Frustration, but even in its Shadow iteration, Metapod is a defensive Pokémon with Stamina being its best stat.

🛡️ Gyms – Okay, so maybe Shadow Metapod’s best stat is Stamina, but that doesn’t make it a strong candidate for defending gyms. It maxes out at 509 CP, far below many base form evolutions with better typings and higher defense. If you want to put a bulky budget Bug in to defend gyms, try a Shuckle.

PvP Analysis

🧸 Little League - Shadow Metapod performs extremely poorly in Little League. While it can take hits fairly well, it can’t retaliate with any meaningful attack and takes far too long to build up its suboptimal Charge Move choices of Struggle or Frustration.

🔵 Great League - In this underdog story, the underdog is an immobile chrysalis and will always lose.

However, these bonuses do not stack if there are multiple Mega-Evolved Pokémon battling simultaneously; only the higher boost will be applied.

Mega and Primal Catch Bonus –While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Primal Kyogre boosts Water-, Electric- and Bug-type attacks and Pokémon.

Catch probability with multiple throws
