PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Fire Attacker:
Fire Fang
Flamethrower
Arcanine has decently high ATK that keeps it from being irrelevant in Raids. Of course, the Fire typing is full of Megas, Shadows, and Legendaries with excellent offenses, but for battles like Tier 1 and Tier 3 Raids, Arcanine is pretty neat as an attacker. Its damage output is close to Houndoom’s, and between Ceruledge and Armarouge. So, definitely usable but not recommended for Tier 5, Mega, and similar Raids. There's nothing spectacular about Arcanine’s DEF, so putting it in Gyms isn't advisable. However, if your defending Arcanine has Electric-type moves, it could come as a rude shock to Water-type attackers.

🔵 Great League
Arcanine’s strong attacks don't reach their full potential in the Great League because the CP restrictions of this format put a lot of stress on Arcanine’s already low DEF. With its highest stat being ATK, Arcanine ends up being quite frail in Great League battles.
Packing Electric and Psychic attacks with Fire Fang is tacky, letting it take out Azumarill, Gourgeist Super, and several Fairy, Bug, Steel, and Ice types. Other than these (most of which are expected), Arcanine can hardly muster any other wins. This makes it an underwhelming pick overall.
🟡 Ultra League
Arcanine performs a little better in the Ultra League as well, where it gains some handful wins over expected targets, but also claims Jellicent, Lapras, Cresselia, Drifblim, and Ampharos (both regular and Shadow).
The thing is, it does flutter some wings but overall, it is not a Pokémon you can count on if you're looking to progress in GBL Ranks.
🟣 Master League
Though Arcanine is able to use its stats to full potential in the Master League, they are still too low to take on the typical threats one finds in this challenging format.
