PvE Analysis
Recommended moves
- Ghost Attacker:
Shadow Claw
Shadow Ball
Cofagrigus is not a Raid Pokémon at all, given its low attacking power and the Shadow bonus does it absolutely no favors. It is decent in Gyms, and that's all you can expect from Shadow Cofagrigus on a PvE standpoint.
⚔️ Raids
A terribly weak Ghost Pokémon for Raid Battles, especially when the type has some heavy hitters in DPS.
🛡️ Gyms
Resisting Fighting-type attacks is always a perk but due to the nerf in Defense from being a Shadow Pokémon, regular Cofagrigus is better in the role of Gym defense.

🔵 Great League
Shadow Cofagrigus is a good Pokémon in itself, but when judging the typical traits of a Ghost-type Pokémon, peers like regular and Shadow Sableye, Shadow Altered Forme Giratina, Trevenant, Shadow Dusclops, and Galarian Corsola are all better. It trades many wins and losses with regular Cofagrigus, beating the likes of Cradily, Bastiodon, Forretress, Blastoise, and Galarian Corsola, while losing to Azumarill, Shadow Empoleon, Shadow Altered Forme Giratina, Dusclops, and Dewgong. Overall, in terms of better quality of wins, you'd want to use regular Cofagrigus.
🟡 Ultra League
Shadow Cofagrigus is a dominant force in the Ultra League, taking advantage of its boosted offense and Ghost-type coverage to beat targets such as Altered Forme Giratina, Steelix, Shadow Annihilape, Tentacruel, Togekiss, Golisopod, Florges, Empoleon, Forretress, Feraligatr, and Shadow Nidoqueen. This is actually a strict upgrade to its regular variant, making it overall a strong addition to your Ultra League team as long as you account for Dark-type opponents.
🟣 Master League
Shadow Cofagrigus is too weak for the Master League.
