PvE Analysis
Dugtrio has a great PvE moveset but disappointing stats that leave it underground (no pun intended). Don't use it in Raids or Gyms, please. 🙅♂️🙅♀️
PvP Analysis
Recommended moves
- Great League:
Sucker Punch
Mud Bomb
Stone Edge
Dugtrio is a niche pick in the main series games thanks to its Arena Trap ability, which traps non-Flying/non-Ghost Pokémon in battle and prevents them from escaping. However, with no such mechanics in Pokémon GO, Dugtrio brings absolutely nothing to the table, especially when peers like Swampert, Whiscash, Gastrodon, and Stunfisk perform the Ground-type role way better.
To be generous, the best Dugtrio can do is bait shields with its snappy Mud Shot + Mud Bomb (only 40 energy) moveset. However, its other usable move, Earthquake, is quite expensive, especially since Mud Shot got nerfed to become slower by 0.5 EPT (4.5 EPT ➡️ 4 EPT).
Without shields, it can KO opponents with a massive Earthquake, but getting to this expensive move is often a challenge due to Dugtrio's frailty. In all, Dugtrio struggles with its awkward moveset and is unable to get KOs consistently. 👎
💎 Dugtrio's best moveset for PvP is Mud Shot, Earthquake, and Stone Edge.
🔵 Great League
The Ground type is good offensively, and Dugtrio can beat Clodsire, Carbink, Toxapex, Shadow Drapion, and Shadow Alolan Marowak. Stone Edge also helps it beat Charjabug. While these victories are neat, other Mud Shot users do the same… and more. Dugtrio is simply an inferior pick. 🫤
🟡 Ultra League
Dugtrio maxes out at 1772 CP, making it underpowered for the Ultra League.
