Water Pulse
Walrein is a bulky, budget pick for an Ice-type attacker and a Dex filler for those with strong Ice types in their collection. ❄️
Sure, use it in lower tier Raids for the spice but there's no point using Elite TMs for its legacy moves (Frost Breath and Icicle Spear) as far as PvE goes. 🫤
⚔️ Raids
Walrein’s impressive bulk gives it a nice TDO so maybe use it in 1- and 3-Star Raids. There are so many better Ice-type Pokémon for more challenging Raids.
🛡️ Gyms
A decent Gym defender based on stats alone but keep in mind that being an Ice/Water-type Pokémon, it's weak to the typical Fighting-type Gym attackers.
💎 The best moves for Walrein in PvE are Frost Breath and Icicle Spear.

🔵 Great League
Walrein has its fortunes changed with the nclusion of two powerful Ice-type moves to its arsenal during its Community Day: Frost Breath and Icicle Spear. This duo, combined with Earthquake, gives Walrein nearly unresisted coverage in PvP. 👀
This toolkit helps Walrein decimate the Great League’s premier Grass, Flying, Dragon, and Ground types, Water types like Azumarill, Shadow Feraligatr, and Dusclops, Wigglytuff, and Alolan Sandslash. ❄️ Walrein’s weak defensive profile gets to it but overall, this is a solid Pokémon to spread terror in the Great League. ☠️
🟡 Ultra League
Walrein is intimidating in the Ultra League where this beast uses its powerful moves to slay Dragons like Shadow Dragonite, Zygarde Complete, Giratina Altered, and Guzzlord, Shadow Drapion, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Gliscor, Drifblim, Mandibuzz, and Galarian Weezing. Even in losing matchups, it does quite a lot of damage and/or baits shields. 👌
While it may not directly get too many wins, it always plays a major role in contributing towards victories. 👏
🟣 Master League
Walrein can beat Dragon, Ground, and Flying types but with the existence of Black and White Kyurem, Kyogre, and Mamoswine… all who get the job done more efficiently. That said, Walrein is still a threat and can cripple opponents even when it loses. So don't dismiss it entirely but at the same time, don't be overly reliant on it. 🙂
💎 The best moves for Walrein in PvP are Powder Snow, Icicle Spear and Earthquake.
