      Swampert in the meta

      PvE AnalysisPvE Analysis

Swampert is one of the most prized catches in Pokémon GO due to its incredible versatility. Despite not having the highest stats, access to Hydro Cannon, decent bulk, and its Water/Ground typing give Swampert widespread application in battles. 🤩

Even though it's surpassed by some other Water-types, it's always nice to have Swampert in your Raid party. It performs great as both a Water-type and Ground-type attacker. ✌️

      ⚔️ Raids

Swampert performs best with Hydro Cannon and Earthquake as Charged Attacks, and a single Fast TM lets you switch between Mud Shot and Water Gun.

This makes Swampert a fantastic counter to Fire- and Rock-type Raid Bosses, as both types are weak to Water and Ground. 🙂

Swampert also has an extremely powerful Mega Evolution, which is obviously a better attacker, but base Swampert is still a top-tier choice.

Overall, Swampert will remain an amazing part of Pokémon GO for years to come. 👑

      🛡️ Gyms

Swampert has decent bulk, and its Water/Ground typing gives it a double weakness to Grass-type moves.

So unless the Gym attacker has Grass-type moves, Swampert is a solid Gym defender. 😁

💎 Swampert's best moveset for PvE is:
Water Gun, Hydro Cannon, and Earthquake.

      PvE AnalysisPvP Analysis

Swampert is one of the few Pokémon that hold the privilege of being viable in all three PvP Leagues. It excels in both offense and bulk, has an exceptional moveset, and a fantastic typing to boot. 🙂

Aside from being able to beat many powerful threats, it puts immense shield pressure on a large section of the meta. Even those lucky few Pokémon that resist Swampert’s attacks still lose a chunk of HP due to how frequently a Mud Shot Swampert can use Hydro Cannon.

Unless you have Swampert locked in against a Grass-type, it is always a challenge to deal with it. A must-have PvP Pokémon! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

      🔵 Great League

Swampert is a massive threat in the Great League, as it blasts through almost any Pokémon in this format.

With Mud Shot and Hydro Cannon, it has always been stellar, but with Sludge now in the mix, it not only has a great shield-baiting tool but also threatens Azumarill and Grass-types.

You can always count on Swampert to make an impact in the Great League! 🙌

      🟡 Ultra League

The energy nerf to Mud Shot hurt Swampert, making it tougher to use Earthquake conveniently to eliminate Steel-types like before. It still gets the job done but is not as consistent. 😅

That’s not all—Feraligatr has shaken up PvP and is now a better Water-type pick in many situations. The croc also threatens Giratina Altered, something Swampert cannot do. 🥲

      🟣 Master League

Swampert is worth running in the Master League, as it gives Steel-type titans a difficult time and also stands up to Ho-Oh.

Hydro Cannon and Sludge is a fantastic combo to pressure Fairy-types. 😎

These qualities make Swampert a viable Master League Pokémon, despite its lower stats, but note that fellow Water starter Primarina ultimately offers more utility and dominance.

💎 Swampert's best moveset for PvP is:
Mud Shot, Hydro Cannon, and Sludge.

                Catch probability with multiple throws

In order to help Trainers understand their overall odds when catching Swampert, we enable the functionality to showing the total chance to catch it depending on the number of available throws. We calculate this chance as if you repeated the same throw N-number of times.

To activate this functionality, change the number of Number of throws to a value greater than 1. The Number of throws option is available in the configuration options above the chart

                Catch rate formula

Pokémon GO catch rate formula can be expressed as follows:

                • CATCH_MULTIPLIERS = ball * curve * berry * throwType * (type1Medal + type2Medal / 2)
                • CATCH_RATE = 1 - Math.pow(1 - baseCatchRate / (2 * cpm), CATCH_MULTIPLIERS)

There are different multipliers that come into play when calculating catch rate.

Curved throws are more effective than regular throws, stronger types of Poké Ball have a higher catch rate, and using a Razz Berry or a Golden Razz Berry also improves your chances.
