Aqua Jet
⚔️ Raids
As a Rock- and Water-type Pokémon, Kabuto struggles to perform well in either category due to its limited moveset. It only has Normal and Ground-type fast moves, and its only Water-type charged move is the weak Aqua Jet, leaving it at a disadvantage before even considering its stats.
If you're looking to use Fossil Pokémon in raids, your best bet is Rampardos for Rock-types and Omastar for Water-types instead.
🛡️ Gyms
Base form Pokémon generally struggle as Gym defenders, and Kabuto is no exception. With weaknesses to Ground and Fighting (two of the most common attacking types in Gyms) and a double weakness to Grass, Kabuto won’t last long enough to earn coins.
PvP Analysis
Recommended moves
🧸 Little Cup
Kabuto shares many similarities with Omanyte but ranks slightly higher in this League. Despite major losses to Jumpluff and Fletchling, it does pick up close wins against both forms of Diggersby and Paldean Wooper.
The optimal moveset for Little Cup is Mud Shot, Ancient Power, and Aqua Jet.
🔵 Great League
Kabuto ranks surprisingly high in Great League compared to its evolution and the Omanyte line, though not high enough to be a viable option. Its key losses outweigh its wins, making Quagsire or Swampert much better choices.
Its best moveset remains the same as in Little Cup, but to reach the CP range needed, Kabuto must be nearly maxed out with XL Candy.
🟡 Ultra League
With a max CP of 1549, Kabuto is simply not a viable choice for Ultra League.
🟣 Master League
Not a viable battler.
