    Shadow Hitmontop PvE Analysis

    Recommended moves

    • Fighting Attacker:FightingCounterFightingClose Combat

    ⚔️ Raids

Despite the Shadow boost, Shadow Hitmontop struggles to have any relevance in the already crowded Fighting meta. With an attack stat of just 173 and a Max CP of 2438, it lacks the offensive power that is required for raids.

    • Rock Smash and Counter: Shadow Hitmontop’s Fast Attacks. While Counter by itself is a strong Fast Attack, the lack of Hitmontop’s stats makes the move irrelevant.
    • Close Combat, Stone Edge, Triple Axel, and Gyro Ball: Shadow Hitmontop’s Charged Attacks. While Hitmontop does have a varied moveset, unfortunately, in raids, none of them are good enough to make an impact.

    🔮 Gyms

Hitmontop by itself isn’t a great defender anyway. Shadow Pokémon usually make even worse gym defenders because the Shadow form cuts their bulk, and Shadow Hitmontop is no exception.

    • Ultra League:FightingCounterFightingClose CombatIceTriple Axel

    🔵 Great League

Shadow Hitmontop has pretty average stats in the Great League. Despite a nice varied moveset, the nerf to Counter has affected Shadow Hitmontop’s performance. It now doesn’t have a good record against the Great League meta, although in a zero shield scenario, it does have a decent record.

    🟡 Ultra League

Shadow Hitmontop requires heavy XL investment to be viable for the Ultra League. Despite the heavy investment, the performance isn’t great. It is best to use the resources elsewhere.

    🟣 Master League

Shadow Hitmontop, with a max CP of 2438, is underpowered for the Master League and hence, should be ignored.

    🧸 Little Cup

Shadow Hitmontop, surprisingly, gives its best showing in the Little Cup. Although in zero and 1v1 shield scenarios, it struggles, it is in 2v2 shields scenario where Shadow Hitmontop shines, having a positive win/loss ratio.
