The following chart shows Shadow Pinsir's DPS and TDO for every fast and charge attack combination. This chart is useful for comparing the relative strength of Shadow Pinsir's movesets. You can change the weather and the opposing Pokémon to see how it affects the rankings.

If you are unable to get Shadow Pinsir with its best moveset, we recommend to use Bug Bite/X-Scissor. You will lose around 0.4% DPS and TDO, which makes these moves a viable alternative to Shadow Pinsir's strongest moveset (Fury Cutter/X-Scissor).

Legacy Elite Fast and Charge Attacks can only be obtained during special events, or by using an Elite Fast TM or an Elite Charge TM. Legacy moves are marked with an asterisk (*). The table above provides information on different moves Shadow Pinsir has in Pokémon GO, along with their corresponding DPS (Damage per Second) and TDO (Total Damage Output).

      PvE AnalysisPvE Analysis

Pinsir is a severely underrated Pokémon in general as it has a pretty good ATK stat of 238 💪

The Shadow version takes the damage output many notches higher and turns out to be a strong Bug-type attacker you can rely on 🪲

Keep in mind that there aren't too many good Bug types anyway, so Shadow Pinsir is quite a catch 👌

⚔️ Raids - While you'll need to dodge, Shadow Pinsir is a great addition to your entourage of creepy crawlies 🐞

That said, remember that Bug types are super-effective against Dark, Grass, and Psychic Pokémon, and other types are often more efficient as counters. Still, you can definitely give Shadow Pinsir a go! 🙌

🛡️ Gyms - Not the wisest decision to include Shadow Pokémon as Gym defenders, especially those with low bulk like Pinsir

      PvE AnalysisPvP Analysis

Packing an impressive moveset, Shadow Pinsir enjoys some degree of viability in the lower PvP Leagues 👍

However, it's not a top-tier choice as its worrisome bulk holds it back substantially ☹️

🔵 Great League - Fury Cutter with X-Scissor and Close Combat (or even Superpower) make Shadow Pinsir a scary Pokémon, where the quick gains of its Fast Move help it use its cheap Charged Moves in no time ⏩

Its powerful Fighting-type moves are the real fear factor, but keep in mind that both debuff your stats. So resort to using them only when shields are down ‼️

While it loses out on some bulk as a Shadow Pokémon, it gains an appreciable damage boost that makes its moveset all the more deadly ⭐ Ultimately, it's a great fit for any team ✅

🟡 Ultra League - Shadow Pinsir brings the same level of unpredictability, bait potential, and damage to the Ultra League 👌

While it's not the most dependable Pokémon, its role is formidable and can earn you wins you wouldn't expect 📈

🟣 Master League - Shadow Pinsir is unfortunately not built for the Master League, where its low bulk leads to hardly any success 😞

              Catch probability with multiple throws

In order to help Trainers understand their overall odds when catching Shadow Pinsir, we enable the functionality to showing the total chance to catch it depending on the number of available throws. We calculate this chance as if you repeated the same throw N-number of times.

To activate this functionality, change the number of Number of throws to a value greater than 1. The Number of throws option is available in the configuration options above the chart

              Catch rate formula

Pokémon GO catch rate formula can be expressed as follows:

              • CATCH_MULTIPLIERS = ball * curve * berry * throwType * (type1Medal + type2Medal / 2)
              • CATCH_RATE = 1 - Math.pow(1 - baseCatchRate / (2 * cpm), CATCH_MULTIPLIERS)

There are different multipliers that come into play when calculating catch rate.

Curved throws are more effective than regular throws, stronger types of Poké Ball have a higher catch rate, and using a Razz Berry or a Golden Razz Berry also improves your chances.
