      Shadow Sceptile in the meta

      Shadow Sceptile in the meta

      PvE AnalysisPvE Analysis

Shadow Sceptile is a phenomenal addition to the PvE meta, with its boosted ATK reinforcing the damage output of Frenzy Plant to a new level! 🤯

It's second only to Mega Sceptile and Kartana in DPS, making it a perfect fit for your Grass-type squad. 🍃

Definitely invest in Shadow Sceptile! 🦎

      ⚔️ Raids

The performance of Bullet Seed and Frenzy Plant Shadow Sceptile is pretty similar to Mega Sceptile using Bullet Seed and Leaf Blade. However, to get optimal damage from Shadow Sceptile, be sure to dodge, as it's pretty frail. ‼️

      🛡️ Gyms

Severe bulk issues make Shadow Sceptile a poor Gym defender. 🤐

💎 Shadow Sceptile’s best moveset for PvE is Bullet Seed and Frenzy Plant.

      PvE AnalysisPvP Analysis

No matter which League you choose, Shadow Sceptile is always better than regular Sceptile, as whatever little time this Grass-type starter hangs on in battle, the power boost from the Shadow bonus is much appreciated. 🙌

This Pokémon adopts a hit-and-run offensive style, where its purpose is to bait shields with the lightning-fast Leaf Blade and deal as much damage in between. Not a top-tier PvP Pokémon, but a surprise package for sure! Try it in battle to take your opponents off-guard. 😉

      🔵 Great League

Along with beating the Great League's premier Ground and Water types, it also beats some Pokémon that regular Sceptile can’t: Shadow Sableye, Lapras, Jellicent, and Shadow Annihilape.

Even in Shadow Sceptile’s losing matchups, the high damage and shield baits often cripple the opponent to a disadvantage. 👀

      🟡 Ultra League

The Ultra League becomes too overbearing for Sceptile, Shadow or not. However, it does possess some positive matchups against prominent Ground, Water, and Steel types (courtesy of Earthquake) in the meta. It may not be a direct match-winner, but it can pave the way to some wins through its supportive role (dealing fast damage and baiting shields). ✅

      🟣 Master League

Shadow Sceptile can’t break out in the Master League due to its low bulk and limited offensive coverage from the Grass type. However, it’s still a force against powerful Ground and Water types like Rhyperior, Excadrill, Mamoswine, Primarina, and Kyogre… beating them all with ease. 🙂

💎 Shadow Sceptile's best moveset for PvP is Bullet Seed, Leaf Blade, and Earthquake.

      Pokédex informationMore information

Mega and Primal Raid BonusMega Pokémon boost the attack power of all other Pokémon when battling in Raid Battles by 10%. Attacks that share their type with the Mega Pokémon's type(s) receive a 30% boost. However, these bonuses do not stack if there are multiple Mega-Evolved Pokémon battling simultaneously; only the higher boost will be applied.

Mega and Primal Catch BonusWhile a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Note on Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon, and Mega Rayquaza
      • Primal Kyogre boosts Water-, Electric- and Bug-type attacks and Pokémon.
      • Primal Groudon boosts Fire-, Grass- and Ground-type attacks and Pokémon.
      • Mega Rayquaza boosts Flying-, Dragon- and Psychic-type attacks and Pokémon.

              Catch probability with multiple throws

In order to help Trainers understand their overall odds when catching Shadow Sceptile, we enable the functionality to showing the total chance to catch it depending on the number of available throws. We calculate this chance as if you repeated the same throw N-number of times.

To activate this functionality, change the number of Number of throws to a value greater than 1. The Number of throws option is available in the configuration options above the chart

              Catch rate formula

Pokémon GO catch rate formula can be expressed as follows:

              • CATCH_MULTIPLIERS = ball * curve * berry * throwType * (type1Medal + type2Medal / 2)
              • CATCH_RATE = 1 - Math.pow(1 - baseCatchRate / (2 * cpm), CATCH_MULTIPLIERS)

There are different multipliers that come into play when calculating catch rate.

Curved throws are more effective than regular throws, stronger types of Poké Ball have a higher catch rate, and using a Razz Berry or a Golden Razz Berry also improves your chances.
