    Shadow Drapion PvE Analysis

    Recommended moves

    • Poison Attacker:PoisonPoison StingPoisonSludge Bomb
    • Dark Attacker:DarkBiteDarkCrunch

Shadow Drapion winds up with a meager 180 ATK, which amounts to 216 ATK thanks to the Shadow boost. Unfortunately, the damage numbers from that ATK are still not good enough to compete with the competition in both its typings.

As a Poison type, Poison Sting is inferior to Poison Jab, and Shadow Drapion doesn't even hit as hard as regular Toxicroak. Coming to the Dark typing, its damage figures are even worse, not even matching Mabosstiff in performance.

Even though Shadow Drapion only has one weakness, its lowered DEF from the Shadow effect and underwhelming HP make it a poor Gym defender.

    🔵 Great League

Exceptional energy generation from Poison Sting and cheap Charged Attacks ensure that the opposition is always on the edge when facing Shadow Drapion. It is a proficient shield burner and is very good at taking down Thievul, Jellicent, Shadow Sableye, Shadow Ninetales, and Galarian Corsola. However, it does lack some firepower in zero shield scenarios, and isn't too bulky. It is a hair better than regular Drapion, beating Cradily, Shadow Hydreigon, Rillaboom, Medicham, Dunsparce, and Thievul. On the flip side, Shadow Drapion loses to Altaria, Charjabug, Florges, Mantine, Mimikyu, and Mantine, all of which the regular beats.

    🟡 Ultra League

Shadow Drapion manages to beat Giratina (Altered Forme), Shadow Dusknoir, Malamar, Mimikyu, and Jellicent, but unfortunately the loss in bulk makes it a reasonable downgrade to regular Drapion. The Shadow is unable to beat Florges, Alolan Muk, Alolan Ninetales, Primarina, Lapras, Skeledirge, Snorlax, and Shadow Ninetales, all core matchups that the regular form succeeds in. So you're better off with non-Shadow Drapion in the Ultra League, a Pokémon quite dominant on its own even when not comparing with the Shadow.

    🟣 Master League

A max CP of only 2773 and a relatively low ATK make Shadow Drapion bad in the Master League.
