🔵 Great League

Shadow Politoed was everywhere in the Great League in previous years but isn’t a common pick in today’s meta. The shadow version is usually preferred for its closing power, and it can frighten opponents with the bait-and-nuke decision-making. It is probably better suited to limited metas these days, as the open meta seems to have left it behind for now. Earthquake is preferred in this format.

🟡 Ultra League

With the increased stat product of the Ultra League meta, Shadow Politoed is arguably better than the non-shadow variant. Its increased bulk and ability to hit hard with Blizzard give it decent play against the Dragons, Flyers, and Grasses of the meta. Feraligatr, Tentacruel, and Poliwrath still outperform Politoed, but it remains a decent pick, particularly for limited metas and cups.

Attacks that share their type with the Mega Pokémon's type(s) receive a 30% boost. However, these bonuses do not stack if there are multiple Mega-Evolved Pokémon battling simultaneously; only the higher boost will be applied.

Mega and Primal Catch Bonus –While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Catch probability with multiple throws
