Genesect (Douse Drive) in the meta

      PvE AnalysisPvE Analysis

The Mythical Genesect is an offensive brute that can do quite the number as a Bug as well as a Steel type. It's overshadowed by a few Pokémon, but if you are lacking a strong Shadow or Mega, Genesect would be fine! 🙂

Note: Techno Blast is only worthwhile for PvP. 💣

      ⚔️ Raids

A great Bug and Steel type alike. Not phenomenal but certainly not to be left in the dark. 🤖

      🛡️ Gyms

Genesect can't be placed in Gyms.

      PvE AnalysisPvP Analysis

Techno Blast has an absurd damage output at a low cost, and you should go with the one that suits your team synergy. Here are the variants:

      • Burn Drive: Fire type 🔥
      • Douse Drive: Water type 💧
      • Chill Drive: Ice type ❄️
      • Shock Drive: Electric type ⚡

From a typing standpoint, Douse Drive can help the Bug/Steel Genesect go head-on with its only weakness—Fire Pokémon. But if you have all versions, it all depends on what coverage best suits your team. 🤔

      🔵 Great League

You'd expect a lot from Genesect, but due to its fragility and inconsistency, it's not worth running in the Great League. 😬

      🟡 Ultra League

Genesect enjoys some level of usage in the Ultra League and performs well against the usual Fairy and Psychic types in this meta. While that's nice, it doesn't do much against the rest of the Pokémon you typically encounter here. Overall, Genesect is avoidable, though the right Drive can make quite an impact! 👀

      🟣 Master League

Again, Fairy and Psychic types are a good deal, but it performs poorly otherwise. A no-no for the Master League. ☹️

                Catch probability with multiple throws

In order to help Trainers understand their overall odds when catching Genesect (Douse Drive), we enable the functionality to showing the total chance to catch it depending on the number of available throws. We calculate this chance as if you repeated the same throw N-number of times.

                Catch rate formula

Pokémon GO catch rate formula can be expressed as follows:

                • CATCH_MULTIPLIERS = ball * curve * berry * throwType * (type1Medal + type2Medal / 2)
                • CATCH_RATE = 1 - Math.pow(1 - baseCatchRate / (2 * cpm), CATCH_MULTIPLIERS)

There are different multipliers that come into play when calculating catch rate.

Curved throws are more effective than regular throws, stronger types of Poké Ball have a higher catch rate, and using a Razz Berry or a Golden Razz Berry also improves your chances.
