Armored Mewtwo PvE-analyse

Aanbevolen aanvallen

Despite carrying the namesake of one of the strongest Legendaries, Armored Mewtwo is surprisingly bad for PvE. That's literally because it puts on armor which gives it massive bulk, but at the expense of ATK, the very trait that defines Mewtwo.

As such, Shadow Mewtwo is a very disappointing Psychic-type attacker, dealing damage lower than even Starmie and barely above Jynx. Surprisingly, this happens even though Armored Mewtwo wields the powerful combination of Confusion and Psystrike as its go-to moveset.

It has a bunch of coverage moves, but due to its underwhelming offensive strength (even worse without STAB), it finds no usage in Raid battles.

As a Legendary, Armored Mewtwo cannot be put in Gyms. This is a shame since its exceptional DEF and HP would have made it a phenomenal Gym defender.

Ultimately, Armored Mewtwo winds up being a collectible rather than a PvE staple like the other Mewtwo variants.

🔵 Great League

Armored Mewtwo is only available via Raids, so getting one with CP eligible for the Great League is currently not possible.

🟡 Ultra League

Armored Mewtwo pairs the hard-hitting but relatively slow Confusion with two fast and powerful Charged Attacks in the form of Psystrike and Dynamic Punch, both being clones of each other in terms of stats. This gives Armored Mewtwo a huge tactical advantage as all it has to do is charge up to 45 energy, and use either attack based on the opponent.

This energy flexibility with both attacks plus the fact that Armored Mewtwo is exceptionally bulky (perfect for Ultra League) makes it equally efficient in all shield scenarios! While it unsurprisingly struggles against Ghost and Dark types, it is phenomenal when facing the likes of Shadow Alolan Ninetales, Shadow and regular Annihilape, Togekiss, Florges, and Kingdra.

In (0-0) and (1-1) shield scenarios, Armored Mewtwo is able to edge past Giratina Altered with Ancient Power, but loses in the (2-2). However, with two counts of extra energy from Confusion, it can even beat Giratina Altered in the (2-2). Be careful though, since Armored Mewtwo loses to Shadow Sneak Giratina Altered in all shield situations. It is at its most lethal as a lead, wherein it also takes out Steelix and Corviknight. Either way, Armored Mewtwo excels in all shield roles and is a very reliable Pokémon for improving your GBL Rank.

Pro tip: The best Ultra League IV spread for Armored Mewtwo caught from Raids is 10/12/12. So, it's strongly recommended to trade Armored Mewtwo with your friends to gain one with better IVs, ideally equal or close to 4/10/11.

🟣 Master League

Unfortunately for Armored Mewtwo, its low ATK not only makes it inadequate for the powerhouses of the Master League but also inferior to Mewtwo. The latter not only hits way harder, it also has a more handy set of coverage moves like Ice Beam and Flamethrower, as well as the quicker Fast Attack, Psycho Cut, for better energy gains on its Charged Attacks.

With stronger options present (regular and Shadow, and even Mega in the Mega Master League), it is extremely risky to run Armored Mewtwo in the Master League, who barely manages a few wins.
